TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida deputy who was caught on video pointing a gun at a pregnant Black woman during a traffic stop has resigned, authorities tell WFLA.

Deputy Jason Desue left the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office after the incident, which occurred around midnight on Friday, Aug. 12, First Coast News reported.

The mother, Ebony Washington, who is four months pregnant, told WJAX she and her four children were on their way home to Jacksonville from Gainesville when Desue tried to pull her over for speeding. She was going 75 miles per hour in a 55-mph zone, according to reports.

I sort of agree with you, but what is the cop supposed to think? Someone is driving 20 mph over the speed limit. I know a guy whose father was killed by the person he pulled over in the dark. So cops know that this is dangerous.

The cop had no idea who was in that car. Who drives away from the cops and doesn’t pull over? I get that it was dark, but I’m not sure I think the cop did anything wrong. What if a guy got out of that car with his own gun? The cop was trying to be prepared.

All this being said, I don’t know…I’m not a cop and haven’t been trained as one. There are good cops and bad cops. Was this a good one who has been ramrodded by the Wokesters or is this a bad cop? I swear, I cannot tell anymore, just that there are two sides to this story.

If I was a good cop, I’d consider leaving the force because the odds are against me these days. Go find a nice desk job doing coding and let someone else handle this mess.

While it is a speed trap area, she was going 75 in a 55. It wasn’t a 30 mph portion of the road.

Of course it’s race baiting. Let’s face it. A large proportion of cops are JERKS. This kinda stuff happens to everyone, not just blacks. There are hundreds, probably thousands of videos on youtube of cops acting like this to everyone. Lots of videos of white people getting the very same treatment as black people. There was one video with similar circumstances as this one, where a white woman was looking for a safe place to pull off and the cop actually did a pit move on her and crashed and flipped her car over right on an interstate, endangering countless lives.

Sounds like a power trip. A nazi-wannabe in cop’s uniform. Not a racial thing, but if the woman had been White the cop would still have a job.

“None of this would’ve happened had I not been speeding,” she told First Coast. “My husband always says … ‘Why you so in a rush?’”

She's not wrong.

Do most speeders have a gun pulled on them?
The driver pulled into a lit parking lot. Highly doubtful someone who wanted to take out a cop would do so.

The driver was respectful and offered a reasonable explanation for why she turned on her hazard lights and looked for a place to pull over.

The officer was rude and overreacted. Way overreacted.

It might make a difference to the cop, but there is no law stating you must pull over within 20 seconds or whatever. I wouldn’t pull over until I found a safe place to do so regardless of what cop wants.

Yes, I think in hindsight he overreacted, and that’s probably why he decided to quit the force. I’m just not sure in the moment how to understand it. Better training? Maybe he is a bad cop. I just see both sides. She shouldn’t have been speeding like that. Maybe he should have better training.

The only point I can make is that her being black had zero to do with her being pulled over and a gun on her. He couldn’t see the person in the car at all. No way to know the race until she stepped out. So he would’ve done this to anyone. Is that your point? He was rude and overreacted because his adrenaline had gotten to him. Once that happens, unless you’ve learned meditation, it doesn’t stop so easily.

Why didn’t she pull over sooner?

Did you read the article? With the state of modern policing I wouldn’t trust a cop any further than I could throw their patrol vehicle. People like this guy are the problem and the world is a tiny bit safer now that he’s resigned.

I did read it after I posted (yes, oops, my bad, posting before reading everything, watched the video first). Having known a guy whose cop father was killed at night by the person he pulled over has me seeing the other side to a dangerous, and these days, thankless job.

Have you ever seen signs on roads that were named for a dead cop? I see them all over the place. I don’t know what the cop’s mindset was at the time, but he did the right thing by resigning.

I just don’t know how this ends. Will we ever have good cops anymore? Or are only the bad ones left?

Agreed. But he seemed pretty PO’ed. <br.
So I was just wondering if her decision to delay pulling over had something to do with the distance she drove to get to, what she considered, a safe spot.

If the officer is pulling you over, pull over.

This nonsense about wanting to drive until you get to a place
that makes you comfortable, is asinine.

You’re speeding 55 miles out of town. Does that mean you
have a right to drive 55 miles to get to a 7/11? Of course
not.

This is yet another example of Blacks doing whatever the
hell they want, whenever they want. F U Pig!

If a person is evading, they are thought to have a reason
for it. Pulling people over is a dangerous thing to do.
Many a cop’s last move is making a traffic stop. So if
the guy gets out of his car with his gun drawn, too
freakin bad for the person that evaded.

I’m well educated. I have a masters. I’m pregnant.

Those have nothing whatsoever to do with the situation.

I wasn’t going to pull over until I was good and ready is
not an excuse.

If you are driving 20 miles over the speed limit, you have
already given an officer all the excuse he needs to order
you to pull over. Do it, dumb ass.

My poor children were terrified I’d be arrested er
something. Well then why did you put them in that
situation brain trust.

The officer was smart to resign in this current public
environment.

This sort of entitlement mentality that is catered to
all the time these days... it’s really destroying this
nation.

What do folks think smash and grabs are? The same
exact mentality is on display. You’re the bad guy.
I’m not the bad guy. You owe this to me, because
slavery!

I’m growing tired of this.

The woman freely admits she speeds all the time, and her
husband has called her on it.

If an officer gets out of his car, the only thing he
wants to hear is answers to his questions. He doesn’t
want to hear your spouting off about your education,
your pregnancy status, or anything else unless it’s of
an emergency issue.

Going 20 over the limit, might be understandable if there
were a medical emergency or something. There wasn’t.

One of the leading causes of death for those in law enforcement are being in vehicle collision, and being struck and killed during traffic stops.

Me personally, if I were to be pulled over, I would drive until I found a safe place to pull over. A parking lot, a side street off the main highway etc.

Would I pull over on tight shoulder within a couple of feet from fast moving traffic? No me. I know what happens. Ask any cop how dangerous it is. Not only for the cop, but for everyone else.

The speed limit along that road can drop from 70mph to 55mph in less than 100 feet.

Who drives 20 miles an hour over the speed limit, at night, no less? Someone who is flaunting the safety of themselves and others.

In my house, we have a saying about speeding that we heard from a friend of ours in college, whose father was a cop. “Nine you’re fine, ten you’re mine.”

Anytime we hit 10 over the speed limit, we know we’re cruising for a run in for sure. Want to avoid it? Usually 9 or less is looked the other way. Not every time, of course, but many times, it is.

All the cop knew was that this was someone who was putting other lives at risk in a big way.

There are no winners here. We all lose.

Pretty soon we will be like Mexico and have warlords and cartels running the show. Oh wait, that’s kind of what Congress is like. We pay them to “protect” us and they make and enforce whatever rules they want to, all while profiting from their positions of authority.

I don’t see how this ends up except as bad news for all of us little people.

Maybe so, but it sounds like she’s accustomed to driving over the speed limit on a regular basis. If she is from Jacksonville, she surely knows about the speed traps in that part of Florida.

I’m not saying the cop is completely in the right.

I absolutely disagree with the headline of this that she was targeted because she was black. There was no way the cop could’ve known that. None. It’s just more race-baiting. Enough already.
