Civil rights attorney plans to file $27 billion lawsuit for Uvalde school tragedy victims

The 90-day mark is coming up since the Robb Elementary school shooting that happened on May 24.

Uvalde parents, like Adam Martinez believe there has been little to no accountability, "somethings need to change and maybe it needs to start at the top, change the culture of everything."

Attorney will file class action civil rights lawsuit against those involved with the Robb Elementary shooting.

Martinez's son Zayon attends Robb Elementary and was at school when the shooting happened, "we're mad, I think a lot of people are mad and they have a right to be."

Hoping to create accountability and justice, San Francisco Civil Rights attorney Charles Bonner, is working to find someone accountable from the May 24 shooting.

"Any person acting under the color of law, who deprives an American citizen of civil rights, is liable in damages," says Bonner who has two plans in place.

"A bucket of federal claims and a bucket of state claims," he says, "and because we have federal claims, we can bring the state claims into federal court."

Bonner announced on Sunday that he plans to file a $27 billion dollar class action lawsuit against civil rights violations, specifically to code 42 u.s.c. 1983.

"All of these defendants who are governmental defendants violated that law," says Bonner, "So, we will be suing everyone who is responsible under that law and we will be suing under state laws as well such as, just basic negligence."

The attorney states his law office will go after eight defendants:

Daniel Defense, the gun manufacturer the gunman used

Oasis Outback, the shop where the shooter picked up the gun

Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District Police Department

Uvalde Police Department

Uvalde County Sheriff's Office

Texas Department of Public Safety

Border Patrol

Gunman's uncle, who drove him to the gun shop

"And the reason why it's $27 billion," says Bonner, "is because we have to make it too expensive for them to continue to do nothing."

In the next few days, Bonner will meet with families, including Martinez who hopes the lawsuit holds water.

"Something needs to happen, the very little accountability that's been done is not even close to what needs to happen and its not gonna stop until we see some action," says Martinez.

Bonner says the claims against many of these entities, including individual claims against UCISD school board and Uvalde City Council members, will be made Monday and Tuesday.

However, the $27 billion dollar lawsuit will not be filed until close to the end of September. If the lawsuit fails, Bonner promises Uvalde parents under his firm, will not pay for attorney's fees.

$27,000,000,000.00

Why not 54 billion? Come on, man....make it real money.

The stupidity of this money grab is beyond belief.

Using the shysters "logic" practically everyone could be at fault.

The parents for sending their kids to the school.

The principal.

The teachers.

Biden!

The list could be quite extensive.

It never occurs to any of these people that if they really wanted to do something about mass-shootings they would immediately abolish "gun-free zones."

98% OF MASS-SHOOTINGS OCCUR IN GUN-FREE ZONES

REPEAL THE GUN-FREE SCHOOL ZONE ACT OF 1990

FACT: Guns prevent an estimated 2.5 million crimes a year or 6,849 every day. 98+% of the time the gun is not fired and no blood (including the criminal’s) is shed.

Yes, greedy lawyer, but half right, half wrong...

"...the very little accountability that's been done is not even close to what needs to happen and its not gonna stop until we see some action," says Martinez.

I dont disagree with this statement. Cops who are paid to protect and defend sat on their thumbs while kids bled out, and actually prevented those willing to do something from doing so.

Now, as to his list of defendants, I can only go along with the LEO's involved for gross mis-action and the family for providing assistance.

Certainly there is plenty of material for litigation, but the amount and scope are over the edge.

So he bought a legally produced AR-15 from a licensed FFL and passed the NICS background check. On what grounds are Daniel Defense and the gun shop responsible here? Idiots..

Only a sick biatch ambulance chaser would think money is the answer. I challenge the ***hole to give EVERY PENNY HE MAKES FROM HIS ACCOUNTABLILITY LESSON to charity. EVERY PENNY. Good luck with that. He’s a friggin’ greedy thief who couldn’t care less about what happened in Uvalde. IT’S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY TO THAT ***hole.

These lawyers must wake up at night and say “I smell something”
(partner in bed: “What? A fire?”

“No, I smell money. There are victims and someone’s going to cough up big cash. I just have to find them.”

This is just another sleazy tactic by the gun grabbers. They cannot pass and enforce illegal, unconstitutional gun restriction and confiscation laws so they’re trying to do an end run by punishing innocent people and corporations such as Daniel Defense.

Was Pete Arredondo ever fired? He's no longer on the city council, and last I heard he was on leave from his police department, but he was not actually dismissed.

Is he just biding his time, waiting for people to forget?

He needs to include Texas Parks and Wildlife. Their game wardens were also on site and are labeled as State Police for their duties.

“Only a sick biatch ambulance chaser would think money is the answer.” If it is not money how or by what means will the guilty “pay”? Should they go to prison instead?

If it by money, it should less and directly from the defendents not the county or city.

I have been wondering for quite a while why Arredondo has not been fired.

I’m guessing it has everything to do with the fact that if he is fired it’s a clear signal of gross negligence and incompetency on behalf of the school district which would only open them up to more lawsuit losses.

if the award succeeds the local government will be gone, kaput.

This amount will never be paid, of course. It is merely a threat display to shake down the firearms manufacturer for a settlement.

The local government can claim immunity and likely will never pay a single dollar in damages. They will spend all their annual revenue on legal fees however and will need to raise taxes.

Every member of that police department should have already been fired by now. And the entire city council should have resigned.
