Hoo boy! It sure is good to be home!
I don't know exactly what hit me, but I was hit hard. The last thing I remember is I was in a lot of pain from my pressure sore, then Chris put me to bed. The next thing I remember, I woke up in the hospital, a week later. I was in a dream world for several days. Kept coming in and out of the same bad dream. I didn't eat or sleep for a week, then they finally got me to eat and drink liquids. They later told Chris that I was in severe delirium. After about 3 weeks, my mind started coming back.
The main problem I had before going into the hospital were my two pressure sores, I was taking Advil by the handful. In the hospital, they told me I had intestinal blockage, which led to abdominal distension. After getting my mind back, I began eating, sleeping, and generally feeling better. The worst problem was that my pressure sore on the left thigh had deepened close to the bone. When I first went into the short-term rehab four weeks ago, the sore was 4 cm deep, but today it is only 1 cm deep. And the pressore sore on the other thigh has completely healed! So the good news now, is that it's healing!
They kept me in bed flat on my back, with a pillow under my left stump to keep the pressure sore off of the mattress. Bad news is while flat on my back, I'm totally helpless. Can't use my hands to type, can't even read on the computer. I'm under doctor's orders to remain in bed for another three weeks or so, until the pressure sore heals.
Another good thing that came out of this is proof, that John and Chris definitely can keep FR running when/if ever something were to happen to me. At any rate, I hope to be up and posting again as soon as I can - hopefully three weeks.
Thank you all very much for your thoughts, prayers and continued support!!
God bless,
Jim Robinson (posted by Chris for Jim)
