Some yes, but how many? How many hours of maintenance does an average newer car need in a year? Or how many hours of plumber time does one need in a year?
They’ll keep a few around for the still-menial work...but very few will be needed.

At the very least we’ll get the same effects as a very large volcanic eruption - which would be a blocking of sunlight and a major reduction of wind (since wind is caused by unequal heating of the earth)...and all this just after getting rid of carbon-based fuels and nuclear.

After years of experience with german cars I am not impressed with their engineering. Overly complex and murphy-susceptible. The last really good German car was a 70s Mercedes. Today they are all money pits. Never keep a German car over 100K miles. They are made with cheap plastic and are terribly trouble prone.
Same with BMW motorcycles. The worst for major mechanical issues. Worse than Royal Enfield.

If you don’t have too many children, you don’t need too many teachers. As to supporting an excess of old people, I am sure they have a more final solution to that problem. In their eyes the elderly common people are even more useless than the able-bodied, young common people.
They truly believe that with up and coming robotic, AI, and bioengineering technology they can maintain and improve on their elite lifestyle without the common folks consuming all the resources. Lesser people are unnecessary to them and survival of the fittest demands they, as our betters, survive while we don’t.
