Why would we be surprised that New Orleans is #1?
The Big Easy is 60% Black.
Also, please note that the race of USA murderers is highly misleading when reported in FBI crime statistics.
The FBI does not report the race of a murderer until at least one individual has been formally indicted for murder.
In most urban areas, only 40% of Black murders are solved.
In sharp contrast, more than 80% of white murders are solved.
In reality, the number of Black murderers each year is close to 2X times higher than reported by the FBI.
My brother in law won’t make a stop in Nawlins when visiting his daughter-too many carjackings. Says mayor is in Hawaii espousing the virtues of the city!
Number 5 on the list of cities with highest murder rate is MILWAUKEE.
This is the city that the Republican Nat’l Committee has just announced as the site for the Republican 2024 Presidential Convention. Great pick, Pubs.
Actually, Milwaukee is a lovely city right on Lake Michigan. I used to go to Irish Fests during the summer for years, but the city was a lot safer then. It has a beautiful Fest site right on the lake, and they have a series of different Fests all summer long. I had a great time in Milwaukee and it’s such a shame that it has become so crime ridden now.
Had a famous and great German restaurant in Milwaukee [I can’t remember it’s name; anyone know?] as well as a wonderful German meat market (Usinger’s, that is still in business and on the Web); it’s where I got the most delicious summer sausages and brats; delicious bacon, ham, etc. Check out their website.
No matter how you look at it, Democrats are the Party of DEATH.
The “Chocolate City”!!! I can’t believe that!! /s
The only two non-Liberal cities I see on the list are Colorado Springs and Virginia Beach, both big military towns.
Oklahoma City & Mesa, AZ, two of the most Conservative big cities, are not on the list.
New Orleans has always been a city that though rich in culture, was also plagued by massive corruption and violence.
My hometown. It has a lot more to offer now by way of entertainment and amenities than it did in the 70s and 80s BUT....the influx of Yankees and especially foreigners has made it different. Its more violent now than it was and the drivers who used to be nice and polite are now really aggressive jerks. Jax was a LOT more Southern when I grew up and was one of the only large cities that was reliably conservative. Unfortunately, that too is changing and not for the better. The city voted by a slight majority for Brandon. Sickening.
I’m just not finding anything surprising here. I travel a bit and some of these towns cause me to gas up by 50 miles out. They are “drive without stopping” zones.
Love to see the race breakdown of the murders by city.
I would have guessed Jackson MS.
The reason for the high murder rate is the unwillingness of cities to address the issue. They just ignore it or claim it is a gun problem (IOW caused by people outside the city).
They’d why they always say red state are more violent. Blue cities in red state maybe but unfortunately it allows liberals to bash red states.

Can never do that. It would reveal the truth.
And of course be “RACIST”!
St. Louis has also been mentioned as a big murder town, not as often as Chicago or Baltimore, but it's been up there with New Orleans if you follow the news. I was going to object that New York City was not high on the list, but I see that it's "Rochester, New York" they are writing about.
New Orleans would also rank 9th in homicides among major cities in the world that are not at war, according to 2018 data compiled by the Citizen Council for Public Security and Criminal Justice, a Mexico City-based advocacy group.
Scratching New Orleans off my retirement list. Also the data is not at all good for sunny, friendly Mexico.
Must be why DC isn’t on the list.
I could have sworn Benghazi-by-the-Lake (Chicago) would be #1, but it’s New Haiti (New Orleans).

Thank you very much. The name was on the tip of my tongue, but wouldn’t fall off, lol. My memory has been jogged, thanks to you.
It is because NO has such a lower population. CHICAGO has a large normal population in some areas that dilutes the stats for the horrorshow areas.
Looking at the list, I kept thinking, “What do all of these have in common?” - apart from being places I wouldn’t want to stop for gas! If only we could set up a GPS with a 3 mile “Danger Zone” around the intersection of MLK Blvd & Central Avenue....
And add that they are all cities under total domination of DEMONCRAT politicians!
