House Members Who Wanted Trump Impeached, 1 More Out

Three of the 10 Republican lawmakers who voted to impeach former President Donald Trump were up for reelection in Tuesday's primaries, with one losing his bid to a Trump-backed candidate and the other two appearing to hold leads in their races, which have not yet been called.

In Michigan's 3rd Congressional District, covering Grand Rapids, freshman Rep. Peter Meijer lost narrowly to Trump-backed opponent John Gibbs, who had served in the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department under the former president.

Trump had vowed to push out of office this primary season the lawmakers who voted to impeach him for a second time.

Meanwhile, in Washington state, the races have not yet been called for the House seats held by two other impeachment voters, Reps. Jaime Herrera Beutler and Dan Newhouse. However, unlike Meijer, both are in place to advance to the general election, reports The Wall Street Journal.

In Washington's primary elections, the candidates from all parties are placed on a single ballot for each House race, with the top two finishers advancing to the November election. Neither Newsmax's election partner, Decision Desk HQ, nor The Associated Press have called the elections in those races.

Newhouse, a four-term congressman, faced seven challengers for the 4th Congressional District seat, including six Republicans of which one, Loren Culp, is a former small-town police chief who had refused to concede the governor's race in 2020 and got Trump's backing in the primary election.

Ross Perot just about pulled it off, but it was such a shock
to him, he went screwy and dropped out, then in.

If anyone could do it, Trump could. There would still be a
remnant of Republicans who grew up in that party and just
couldn’t switch. Would they vote for Trump? I honestly
don’t think some of them would.

I know what you mean about the foundational aspects of the
party. I’m sick to death of the RNC / GOPe.

I’m a little jaded on third party runs. I do recognize the
problem with the leadership. They are as wicked as they
can be, preferring the nation go down the tubes or Communist
rather than follow the Constitution. (same diff I guess)

It’s just mind-boggling how bad it is right now.

The Jungle Primary format in Washington state makes beating the incumbent RINOs very difficult.

Joe Kent (MAGA) is just 1% behind Beutler (RINO) - 83% of votes counted.

Lauren Culp (MAGA) is 5% behind Newhouse (RINO) - 69% of votes counted.

Also, three days after the polls closed, they are still counting votes.

In Washington state, they keep counting until the Democrat or the RINO wins.

Kent is moving closer to Beutler on every vote dump. It is going to be really close at the end. He has gone from 5 points down to 1.3 points down with 23% (approx) to count.

Yes I know l live in Michigan but Meijer was not up against 7 splitting his opposition votes. My main point was an incumbent benefits a lot running against multiple opponents. Despite being a freshman who voted to Impeach it was very close, he almost won against one opponent.

I’m a little jaded on third party runs.

**********

And for good reasons. Its not a “flip the switch” kind of thing and the political dynamics and viability of a new party would not be fully known for quite awhile. So I share your concerns.

I’m just so darned tired of the GOPe/RINO sh!t show that I’m willing to look at alternatives for a way out of the persistent disappointment and failure to move a conservative agenda forward. The country is a mess and we desperately need strong leaders with big ideas to get us out of it.

Yet another lowlife who ignored what his constituents wanted and chose what HE wanted...good riddance!

Heidi St John should be blacklisted from ever having support. She made a pact with Joe Kent to drop out if she got Trump’s endorsement. Instead, she broke that pledge and has taken money from phony conservative PACs to stay in and be a spoiler.

She should be ashamed of herself.

Better to encourage ... possibly “support”? the Forward party.
Which is basically a left leaning zonker.
But would syphon votes from the dim wit party.

Not if Cheney is their nominee, as I predict she will be.

You do realize that we would have Democrats and Republicans
in the House and Senate. Would they work with Trump?

They didn’t last time.

I’d have to think about that possibility.
She’s a psycho revengeful RINO..but would dims vote for her?
Would the bushes/neocons abandon their republican stronghold?

Dims don’t have to vote for her, just enough independents.

I’m not sure how you do that, if your candidate doesn’t jump
in.

The Republicans resisted him, that’s for sure. Just imagined how much Trump could have accomplished if the GOP had gotten fully behind his agenda. But I digress...

I see the GOP going back to its old tricks of making excuses and appeasing Dems if Trump gets re-elected. McCarthy strings will be pulled by the de facto Speaker, Paul Ryan, and of course the worthless McConnell will stand in the way of practically everything constructive. The GOP loves big government and the administrative state almost as much as the Dems do.

I agree. I’ve been saying the same thing.

I detest the RNC/GOPe.

Ryan, McConnell, they really screwed us in 2017, 18.

“.....They didn’t last time...”

I was thinking about that. Since they have had a taste of Biden and the “green” transformation of America, would they allow “save the USA” or the hate Trump passion rule the day??

I’m afraid it would be the hate Trump option.

These people seem to be clueless how dangerous a game they
are playing.
