Trapped like rats: Russia's 49th army in Kherson is 'highly vulnerable' and completely cut off from other occupied territory after Ukraine strikes bridge again as counter-offensive gains momentum

Russian troops defending the city of Kherson are 'highly vulnerable' to attack after Ukraine destroyed or damaged bridges linking it with the rest of its occupied territory, British military intelligence says.

Putin's men are now relying on pontoon bridges and ferries to move troops, vehicles and supplies across the Dnipro River after Ukraine blew up Antonovsky Bridge, which is Russia's main road route into and out of the city.

Two other bridges - the Antonovsky Rail Bridge and Nova Khakokva hydroelectric dam bridge - have also been damaged in recent days, and are not fully operational.

The next-closest bridge spanning the Dnipro - Ukraine's main river which splits the country down the middle - is at Zaporizhzhia, some 130 miles from Kherson and in the middle of a city that Ukraine controls and has heavily defended.

-snip-

'Russia's 49th Army is stationed on the west bank of the Dnipro River and now looks highly vulnerable.

'Similarly, Kherson city, the most politically significant population centre occupied by Russia, is now virtually cut off from the other occupied territories.

'Its loss would severely undermine Russia's attempts to paint the occupation as a success.'

Ukraine is also thought to have damaged or destroyed multiple bridges spanning the Inhulets River which flows north out of Kherson towards the city of Kryvyi Rih.

That means the Kherson region has been split in two: With the city on one side and an open and difficult-to-defend area of countryside to the east.

Kyiv's men are now pushing south from Kryvyi Rih into that area of countryside, with British intel suggesting they have established a toe-hold spanning the Inhulets.

Russian troops in the area now face the unenviable task of having to hold the countryside with no obvious route of retreat if they fail.

You write about Ukrainian men fleeing. Well Jack, most of the Ukrainians are staying and fighting bravely and kicking the teeth out of the larger country’s forces. The two foreign countries where I most admire the fighting men are El Salvador and Ukraine. The Salvadorans killed communist guerrillas and the Ukrainians kill filthy criminal invaders.

Can you bring yourself to disagree with a single Moscow talking point? Apparently not.

Being an occupier is different from defending own country.

It is very important for the peace in Eastern Europe to defeat Russia in their efforts to conquer Ukraine.

You can laugh now. Russians have already lost the main battle - their initial attack to quickly occupy Ukraine has been thwarted. They sent troops into the battle with only few days’ worth of food and fuel. It tells us what they thought about the length of the “special military operation”.

In addition, instead of pushing NATO away from Russian borders, they motivated Finland and Sweden to join the NATO. Strategic vision by tsar Putin”?

Did you hear the Putin’s objectives?:) It is easy to win over Putin if you fight the strawman by the media.

Can you bring yourself to disagree with a single Biden/NATO/NeoCon-lib talking point? You are very badly informed, even to the point repeating nonsense about military operations planted by MI6 and others in British tabloids and elsewhere. You probably believed the Ghost of Kiev hoax. Perhaps you still believe that the UFA has 2k RF soldiers encircled in the south (which the Zelensky regime finally admitted did not happen).

If you cared at all about people, instead of treating this as some sort of sporting event, you’d be looking far and wide with respect to sources to get at the truth. Before you get excited by a trashy DM article, you ought to learn where Kherson is, what a “steppe” is how many UFA brigades are in the Nikolaev area, what the RF advantage in combined arms is, how it relates to offensive operations on a steppe, what the real damage to the Androvsky bridge is, what the RF alternatives to that bridge are, what the munitions reserves of the UFA are, how the breaking of the UFA lines in the Donbas are affecting UFA deployments in the Kherson/Nikolaev area, and so on.

Excluding the Azovs, etc., the UFA does consist of decent human beings whose lives are being cynically thrown away by a Zelensky regime operating in the service of US/NATO/NeoCons’libs. Contrary to what you say, the young men have fled west, even bribing Polish border guards to do so. That is no secret...if you get you head out of the Biden administration progaganda infested MSM/tech media. Zelensky is so short of manpower that he has squads out dragging people off the streets to force them into the UFA. The draft now officially goes up to 60 year-olds, and standards have been lowered to draft people with previously disqualifying disabilities. Yes, it’s “glorious” to be forced to die for a coup regime that is an instrument of Neocon messianic narcissism.

By the way where is it written that the Russians are always evil and wrong? The Russians had a bloodless revolution that threw out the Communists. What do you actually know about Russia today? What you and the mentally fossilized elderly here have done is simply transfer their views about the USSR (which were accurate) to today’s Russia (which is very wrong).

In our case, what have we done here? What are you doing here in the face of profoundly corrupt, evil, degenerate Biden administration? What are you going to do if there is again vote fraud in the fall as there was in 2020? You speak of El Salvador, which party here supported the contras and which one was on the wrong side? I know you know. Just like now, the Dems are almost always in favor of the wrong thing. Now the Neocons-libs have captured both parties. The result is this hideous proxy war in the Ukraine.

I don’t care what Putin or his puppets say, I watch their actions. Attack on Kiev from the Belarus indicated intention to control the entire Ukraine, not just the eastern part.
That objective failed. Hopefully their other objectives will fail over time, economic sanctions combined with western weapons supply will erode the Russian desire to occupy Ukrainian territory.

You think my sources are MSN ??? I have family and friends in Ukraine and plenty in the Donbas. That is why I know how the Bolshevik trolls like you are so full of it when it comes to the true history of the “separatist” movement. I’ve traveled in Russia and in Ukraine. I have real knowledge of the area while you are a brainwashed useful idiot. Glory to Ukraine !!! Death to the invaders !!!

I’ve been in Russia and the Ukraine, too. As for your anecdotal statement about family and friends, they may feel that way, but the general run of people in those areas have had their fill of the coup governments and their NeoNazi thugs. As for sentiment, the map of last real election tells the story. It’s been posted here many times. So, please feel free to cheer for the NeoNazi, sex-trafficking, unbelievably corrupt Zelensky regime. The victims, however, are the ordinary Ukrainians who are caught in the middle of the Biden/NATO/Neocon-lib proxy way.

I do not cheer for war, but it is exactly the sort of delusional thinking promoted by this article that prolongs support for this Biden/NeoCon crime. And, since you think RF name changes are so important in comparison to the evils of the Zelensky regime, who changed the name of Leningrad to “St. Petersburg” and Stalingrad to “Volgograd”?

As for who is more reliable as between the RF and the Zelensky regime, here’s PBS (of all sources!!) exposing the Zelensky regime lying about the Russians.

https://sonar21.com/you-know-it-is-getting-bad-for-ukraine-when-pbs-disputes-the-propaganda/

I wonder how capable the people here who have swallowed the Biden/Neocon propaganda line on this war are willing to look behind the miasma of lies that is generally being fed to us by the MSM/tech media and revise their opinions. The soldiers in the UFA are daily being forced into an unimaginable hell in which they are outgunned and out-led and in which they are dying and being wounded in the hundreds to the thousands every day now, all ultimately in the service of Neocon-lib/WEF fantasies of remaking the world.

The result beyond the suffering in the Ukraine is that the Europe and the Euro are dying. There are energy and food shortages all over the Global South (look at what’s happened in Sri Lanka). Our client states in NATO are likely to start refusing to continue sanctions and throwing resources into this unnecessary, evil war, Ukraine will be dismembered (perhaps erased if the Biden regime keeps escalating), the BRICS/SCO/Global South will begin disengaging from the West in terms of trade and reserve currencies, there is likely to be (much needed) regime change in Europe because the people won’t tolerate the sanctions/war/Green Energy insanity any longer (Note that Draghi, who knows what is going to happen, has left the ship).

1. Zelensky has no “Million Man Army” ready to move against the Kherson region, let alone a properly trained and equipped army of that size in the South ready to move, any more than Louis Farakhan had a “Million Man March.” 2. The chances of a successful counteroffensive by the UFA that retakes the Kherson region by the UFA are slim to none. 3. The entire Donbas will be liberated from the Azovs and Zelensky regime, probably before the end of August (The RF is already moving on Bakhmut). 4. The Poles are poised to take over much of the civil administration of Galicia. 5. No major RF force is currently (or within the last week) surrounded by the UFA in the south. 6. The Androvsky bridge is a ridiculous distraction and has no real strategic importance. If it is destroyed, the RF will improvise other means for moving supplies, men, and vehicles. 6. Kharkov is likely to be retaken by the RF. 7. Much, if not most, of the well trained and equipped UFA force in the east is now dead, wounded, or in RF hands. 8. The Zelensky regime has begun the “volksturm” phase of recruiting - the essentially untrained and poorly equipped very young and the old. 8. The RF army’s morale is currently excellent (winning does that for an army), and their causalties have been far fewer than the West press reports from numbers made up by the CIA (sometimes) and MI6. 9. UFA commanders have been selling on the black market many of the weapons that the West has sent, including to the RF. All of these statements are true, probably true, or predictions of what will likely happen. It’s a much more accurate take on the situation than you are getting from British tabloids, Yahoo, msn, etc. If most of them prove entirely wrong (Again, I think that they are essentially right or at least within the ballpark), I will admit it. If they aren’t, what will you do?

LOL. Just a couple days ago the the Russian defense minister stated on Russian state TV that their goal is to restore the USSR. Then today these Bolsheviks murdered 50 POW a la Katyn. Those donated Polish tanks will shortly pound hell out of a lot of Russians and send them to their graves.
