The pay is low. The prestige is falling. The housing is often dilapidated and roach-infested. You move around a lot and your children constantly have to say 'goodbye' to their friends. The wars are lost and the border stands unguarded from invaders. The indoctrination is pure wokesterism, advising you that you're the bad guy and the flag you serve under is worth taking a knee. You take a vaccine known to harm young people, or else. You shower with unreconstructed transgender individuals. You watch as your highly bemedaled top commander doesn't bother with basic military fitness regulations required of you. The consultants get their big-dollar military contracts. You? You just aren't as important.

You know, me being an Air Force vet I tried to steer him in that direction. Some folks here locally even took him into a flight and boom pod refueling simulator, yet he still chose the Navy. But I guess he still had some Air Force blood in him after all because he chose air traffic control as his career. How ironic is that!
When they joined my platoon(s), I sat them down and told them the standards, and that they were starting with a fresh slate.
I loved the 18 months I had as a Platoon Leader, but today’s Army is too woke for me.
My sons and nephews have been advised to stay away from today’s military. Courtney Massengales have run off the Sam Damons.
US Army, 65-69 two years in Nam. I didn’t reenlist because alcoholism was rampant and I suffered because I reported to a drunk worthless E7. A relative that served in the 70’s said marijuana use rampant and it was difficult to instill discipline.
Reagan came in and kicked out the drunks and druggies. Let’s hope the next president can do the same although it will take more than 4 years.
I know how USAF and USN air traffic control works, but I don’t quite understand how the Navy does it at sea. I mentioned to someone else, that I never encouraged my son to go in, but he wanted to be a USAF pilot, so he went to OTS, got a commission, and then on to pilot training. He got bit by the aviation bug, and now, all he wants to do, is fly. 👍
Someday at this rate the whites who join will be mostly female which means white males will end up getting minority hires. Everything about promotions is race and gender based by grade, whites usually getting percentage points shaved off going towards the minority and white women....
Let everyone who hates a white male fight one generation while we take a break and let those we protected bleed red, white and blue.
Agreed Met the O-7 board a half dozen times. Knew I never had a chance. I wasn’t the kind the pliable sort they were looking for.
Right now I’m thinking of a young girl in my neighborhood who just graduated high school. She is unmarried, uneducated and has no prospects for the future. She lives with her grandmother as is conmon for far too many young people these days. Oh yes, she also has a three-year-old baby.
So what is she going to do? Join the army. Why not? What other options does she have?
This. This is the type of recruit that is best suited for military service today.

In wondering why the answer is no a whole new set of questions should arise to us shouldn’t they? What instead? That is hard to see and do with enthusiasm.
Funny thing about the ego business and it catching up to you. It is the reason for me that the only people who I would want in the job are the ones who don’t want it and the ones who get it are the ones most likely to succumb to the ego thing and the only ones considered.
My son isn’t entirely sure, but the way he talked, he said that he would work on aircraft carriers when they are at port. He wouldn’t actually be guiding them in for landings but would instead help coordinate flights as if he was based on land, just like at a regular airport.
Now, I could not recommend it to any of my grandkids for reasons you and the author laid out in detail.
The mandatory "vaccines" put me way over the top but the many other sh!tshow items are factors as well. Our military is on the road to failure, and nobody seems to have the moral courage or determination to right the badly listing, sinking ship at this time.
This has become a deadly and embarrassing clown show in so many ways and it plays into the hands of our enemies (foreign and domestic). They have to be laughing their asses off at our stupidity. Realistically, this isn't an accident and they likely have had a hand in it.
I agree. I believe this purging of the Government is entirely intentional.
