The pay is low. The prestige is falling. The housing is often dilapidated and roach-infested. You move around a lot and your children constantly have to say 'goodbye' to their friends. The wars are lost and the border stands unguarded from invaders. The indoctrination is pure wokesterism, advising you that you're the bad guy and the flag you serve under is worth taking a knee. You take a vaccine known to harm young people, or else. You shower with unreconstructed transgender individuals. You watch as your highly bemedaled top commander doesn't bother with basic military fitness regulations required of you. The consultants get their big-dollar military contracts. You? You just aren't as important.

I’m a combat vet and don’t want my 14 year old anywhere NEAR that s**t-show.
Well said Sir. Thank you for your service
Especially when there are too many star-wearing traitors in the Pentagon.
Ditto to everything you said sir. Thank you for your service.
You’re right. Unfortunately this goes much further down than the top brass. These people are closer that we like to think.
We have a real problem on our hands.
When you emasculate about 3 or 4 generations of boys/men, this is what happens.
When you turn the military over to people like the Clinton’s, Soetero’s, and Globalist Bush’s, this is what happens.
Police and fire departments, all over the country, have trouble filling their ranks. So, the knee jerk reaction is, throw more and more money at the problem. Punish the taxpayers, basically. Money is a stopgap. Pretty soon, those that take the job for the money, soon realize they can get paid the same for doing nothing, just like the guy their academy classmate trying to save the world. However, the person doing nothing and getting paid, doesn’t get in any trouble. The hard charger does.
US Dept of Labor studies show labor trends. Those trends demonstrate that about 6 or 7 years ago, a noticeable decline in the number of people willing to go into law enforcement, fire services, EMS, the military and blue collar industries/trades/transportation. About 5% decline every year. That doesn’t take into account being qualified, either.

The Army is lowering recruitment standards to levels not seen in at least two decades, and the implications are severe—not only for the future of the Army, but also for the direction of U.S. foreign policy.
The latest statistics—compiled by the Defense Department. and obtained through the Freedom of Information Act by the Boston-based National Priorities Project—are grim. They show that the percentage of new Army recruits with high-school diplomas has plunged from 94 percent in 2003 to 83.5 percent in 2005 to 70.7 percent in 2007. (The Pentagon’s longstanding goal is 90 percent.)
The percentage of what the Army calls “high-quality” recruits—those who have high-school diplomas and who score in the upper 50th percentile on the Armed Forces’ aptitude tests—has declined from 56.2 percent in 2005 to 44.6 percent in 2007.
You join the military these days, depending on your MOS, you deal with some pretty hi-tech equipment. The kid that thinks 2+2=5, isn’t the person you want holding that gear.
I was a 2LT commencing in 1972. I’m with you all the way, same reasons.
This has been my sentiment. My grandfather served and his brother served in WWII, my dad served at the tail end of the Vietnam and then retired when I was 15. My brother did 10 years in the AF, my cousin another 6, with another cousin in the Navy. I did four active in the AF, followed by another four in the Army National Guard. Thats a decent bit of family history in the military.
But as for my kids, no way would I sign the papers for them to join with this current nonsense. And military families are usually easy recruits.
The left has won.
I wouldn’t go into the U.S. Army now, even if a judge told me to.

Thank you for your service. I think you fought the last American war that was justified. I feel the policy of containment worked and most likely prevented WWIII. Vietnam was a part of containment. The fruit of containment was the Soviet Union collapse. I can’t, in retrospect, see justification for any of the conflicts we’ve been involved in since that collapse. Those thousands of America’s best lost since then have been sacrificed in vain. The majority of both parties in DC would not hesitate to feed hundreds of thousands more into a senseless Eastern European meat grinder or insert them into some Chinese quagmire. I tell my grandsons to not even consider the military of today.
“Thank you for your service. I think you fought the last American war that was justified.”
Just for full disclosure, I served stateside administering defense contracts and periodically performing survivors’ assistance officer duties. I’m not going to claim combat service that I didn’t have. My deepest appreciation and thanks go to those who did have combat service.
In my experience, O-5 and above are mostly worthless straphangers, butt kissing morons. Many willfully drank the Kool aid. They retire, get a cushy job at defense contractor, then screw the very same brothers in arms they just served with. Beltway Bandits that’s our polite term for them.
Somalia, Haiti, Kosovo (Albania), Bosnia and Iraq. 26 years of (grateful) service and I wouldn’t recommend family or friends to join. I wouldn’t have anything I have for not having served but today’s military is just screwed. Sorry.
The Left advances absurd ideas and abnormality which have rotted out all of our institutions, including the military.
I will never recommend anyone to join the military if it stays as it currently is.
Being a leftist is a life of denying reality.
