More than quarter of Americans - 28 per cent - said that it might 'soon be necessary to take up arms' against the US government, according to a new poll released Thursday.

The survey, which polled a pool of 1,000 US voters, was conducted by the University of Chicago's Institute of Politics in May.
The poll revealed deep divides between Americans of differing viewpoints, with nearly identical percentages of Republicans and Democrats (73 and 74 per cent) saying that the other side 'are generally bullies who want to impose their political beliefs on those who disagree.'

The survey found that overall, 49 per cent of Americans agreed that they 'more and more feel like a stranger in my own country.'
The breakdown in the political leanings of those who felt that sentiment was characteristic of the rest of the survey - 69 per cent of voters who identified as 'very conservative' expressed it, while only 38 per cent of self-identified 'strong democrats' did.

One third of Republicans polled held the belief that armed resistance to the government may soon be necessary, while 35 percent of independent voters felt that way, and 20 percent of Democrats.

I'm skeptical of polls especially when they tell me what I want to hear.
If it's a real poll, a question like that would tend scare sensible people away from an honest "yes" answer.

A full QUARTER! I’d be very surprised if it went as high as a full 5 percent. These might be a high percentage of wanna - sound-tough-guys they interviewed.
I agree. They are probably thinking of 1000's of armed civilians somehow getting together against National Guards on a battle field. Won't happen. There are no secure lines of communications anymore to form that large of militia, not to mention being out weaponized.
Let them have their warm fuzzy feelings about Revolution II or Civil War II. This isn't 1776 with musket vs musket, with some ancient cannons thrown in. This would be semi-auto rifles and pistols against full-auto, mechanized, and trained soldiers.
I can't believe these idiots answered this survey. Maybe they should have contacted the FBI, NSA, and other LEO agencies about their intent. Talk about a target on the back. Sheesh.
A resistance would have to be organized. No way would the FBI and NSA allow that to happen. Look how they’ve come after the Oath Keepers while leaving the BLM and Antifa alone. Organization would have to be done without electronic communication. Good luck with that.

What were the main locations of those polled? Because my guess is it’s WAY MORE than 25%, and that poll may not reflect the thinking of Americans today.
It’s the Daily Mail - take this with a large grain of salt.
The number is probably way higher but reasonable people are right to be suspicious of such polls and intentionally lie in their response to protect themselves and their family.

I don’t feel like a stranger, but every time I shop at Costco I feel like I’m in a foreign country! On a weekday the ratio is probably 1 white person out of 5. On the weekends it is probably 1 out of 20.
Of course it doesn’t help when the entire family with mom, dad, grandma, grandpa and 5 kids is walking s-l-o-w-l-y in front of you examining every single thing on the shelves for their weekly outing.
