I am not sure exactly at what stage of evelopment a fetus qualifies as a person with an inalienable right to life. Maybe when brain wave patterns start. But it does not seem to be the moment of conception to me. And it certainly is not anywhere in the late terms of pregnancy.

I don’t know if we’ll ever be able to say when a fetus qualifies as a ‘person’. We’ve just arbitrarily come up with compromising (and materialistic) notions like the trimester framework and ‘viability’ - but we don’t know.

I look at that question simply.

What will happen in a clear majority of situations wherein a woman is pregnant? A child will be born. Therefore, the potential is almost a certainty that that fetus/unborn developing person is endowed at the moment of conception with the unalienable right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, and is, ought and should be protected by the most powerful among us and our laws.

The claim that some will be ectopic, miscarried etc. is moot. People die every day from tragic circumstances.

Next argument is in cases of rape or incest- I know it’s a tough emotional, legal and moral battle for a woman/minor child-its near to me personally. What should the nonconsenting victim do? Killing the unborn is not a good answer to me. Innocence is to be valued, not condemned. The sin/crime of the father must not pass onto and cost the innocent, in my opinion.

Abortion for convenience is what is evil.
