Former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson’s Tuesday testimony ought to ring the death knell for former President Donald Trump’s political career. Trump is unfit to be anywhere near power ever again.
Hutchinson’s resume alone should establish her credibility. The 25-year-old had already worked at the highest levels of conservative Republican politics, including in the offices of Sen. Ted Cruz (TX) and House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (LA), before becoming a top aide for former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows.
In short, Hutchinson was a conservative Trumpist true believer and a tremendously credible one at that. She did not overstate things, did not seem to be seeking attention, and was very precise about how and why she knew what she related and about which testimony was firsthand and which was secondhand but able to be corroborated.
What Hutchinson relayed was disturbing.

People keep underestimating the role of guile. There is a certain type of straight shooter who says whatever he feels, anytime he feels like it. But on the whole, plenty of people know how to bide their time. There are people who understand the need to put up a facade while undermining their adversaries. Not everything’s a standup fight.

The Democrats have nothing on Trump - a fair trial would only prove his innocence and their guilt. That’s why they cannot allow a fair trial.
When the Republicans take back control of Congress and restore some semblance of balance to these committees, the Democrats will immediately lose interest in looking into Jan 6th. The last thing in the world they will want is real investigations or actual fair hearings.
Instead, the Democrats will revert to their old tactic of constantly leaking defamatory allegations to the fake news. Since their sources will be anonymous, there will be no opportunity for rebuttal or cross-examination.
My guess is that once they are in the majority, the Republicans will revert to being pussies and decide not pursue any serious investigations of their own. A few good MAGA congressmen will draft various articles of impeachment and call for various investigations, but they will end up mostly going nowhere.
Our only chance of getting justice is electing President Trump (for the third time) in 2024. I think, although he hides it well, he is boiling mad. I think there were actions he was on the verge of taking the second he got re-elected, that would have devastated the deep state.
He had an executive order prepared that would reclassify executive branch employees, making 90% of the permanent bureaucracy subject to firing at will. That’s why they had to steal that election at all cost - even at the cost of making themselves guilty of high treason.
If he can make it back to the White House alive, there will be Hell to pay.
