SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – Amid the U.S. Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade and ending federal protections on the right to an abortion, New Mexico’s Governor signed an executive order Monday related to abortion access in the state. The order addresses issues several outstanding issues as they related to New Mexico’s willingness to help other states that now have different laws on the books related to abortion.
The order comes as New Mexico lawmakers consider more definitions surrounding abortion following the state’s 2021 law, repealing a 1969 abortion ban in New Mexico. The governor was joined at Monday’s press conference by lawmakers and reproductive rights advocates, including Senate Majority Whip Linda Lopez (D-Albuquerque), and representatives of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains and the ACLU of New Mexico.
“We will not further imperil the rights and access points of anyone in the state of New Mexico,” Governor Lujan Grisham said. “As long as I’m Governor, everyone in the state of New Mexico will be protected, out of state residents seeking access will be protected, providers will be protected, and abortion is, and will continue to be legal, safe and accessible.”

You’ve got a point about executive orders. Obama was able to do it, and no one stopped him. Now, we’re in the ‘So What?’ stage. The democrats have discovered that even if a court finally might rule against them, they can ignore that - and with a sympathetic judge, even void it in the meantime.
Exit question: Will they do the same thing for the 2022 elections?
I’ll say it again - women in politics is not a good idea - very few exceptions.
It was every bit what I once believed our country to be.....what it is now cannot be adequately described but it’s not the country it was intended to be - not even close. Too many foreigners running things.
Haven't people around here been celebrating that the court returned the question of abortion to the states? Isn't this a state making its own decision on how to handle it? So how is this blowing off the court's decision. It seems more in keeping with it.
What requires the people to vote on it? They elect their legislature and their legislature makes the laws.
“As long as I’m Governor, everyone in the state of New Mexico will be protected, out of state residents seeking access will be protected, providers will be protected, and abortion is, and will continue to be legal, safe and accessible.”
Oh, and don’t forget to wait as late as possible - we can sell a lot more baby parts from a “finished” baby.
You RACIST!
As for New Mexico what struck me was a high level of provincialism combined with corrupt politics - people were OK but saw lots of drug addicted homeless in Albuquerque and the woman I was dating from there was a bitter control freak who is now Manhattan’s and another guys problem anyway.
He was right about a lot of things.
I’m speaking in general, if you haven’t seen everyone in every country of the globe trashing the Supreme Court, you haven’t been paying attention. I’m fine with the states and state “judges”. I’m talking about the damn Feral RAT “judges” making off the wall decisions that the rest of us have to live with. Those are the RAT bass turds who overturned everything President Trump did. I want the states making these decisions about issues not given to the Feddies by the Constitution. Abortion isn’t in there. Personally though, I think this country has one hundred times more “judges” than it needs. Especially now that we don’t arrest criminals anymore.

I'm trying to rack my brain on this, but I could swear they were going have a vote on it statewide and it was looking bad for the pro-death side, so it got tabled and just went to the legislature.
“New Mexico. Scrape the money together and we’ll scrape you.”
Way to hold back. I have many more adjectives I could add to that.

“Way to many stupid liberals.”
I’ve been debating moving from this “state”. I’ve been here 30 or31 years, and it’s not the same. Like you said, “Way too many stupid libtards.”
