Ukrainian forces are now withdrawing from Sievierodonetsk and may be ordered to also withdraw from Lysychansk, the last remaining holdout for Ukraine in the Luhansk region of Donbass.
On June 24, the head of the Luhansk regional military administration which is under Kiev’s control claimed that Ukrainian forces will have to withdraw from Severodonetsk. The Ukrainian military has been ordered to withdraw from the city, reported SouthFront.
The territory of the Azot plant remains under the control of Ukrainian armed formations. Severodonetsk itself and the airport in its vicinity are under control of the allied forces of the Russian Federation and the LPR. At the moment, it is unclear whether the Ukrainian official was referring to residential areas of Severodonetsk, which are already under full control of Russian-led forces, or the industrial zone of the city, where Ukrainian militants are hiding.
“Unfortunately, we will have to withdraw our military [from Severodonetsk]. It makes no sense to stay in positions broken after many months [of hostilities], because the number of dead in unfortified territories may grow every day,” Hayday said in a televised address. “Our defenders, who are there, have already received a command to withdraw to new positions, and to fully conduct hostilities from there.”
Regional Governor Serhiy Gaidai has suggested that a Ukrainian retreat from Lysychansk, Sievierodonetsk’s sister city, may be necessary, reported the private intelligence firm Inkerman.
Lysychansk has faced day and night aerial bombardment in recent weeks and Russian forces have captured two strategic villages to its south. Further Russian success to the south of the city could soon leave Ukrainian forces in Lysychansk and Sievierodonetsk encircled. A Ukrainian retreat would mean Russia had successfully occupied every city in Luhansk, bringing it closer to one of its war aims.
“Ukrainian Forces May Withdraw From Final Luhansk Village As Russia Continues Artillery Onslaught”
I’m not sure if I’d call Lysychansk, with 100,000 pre-war people, a ‘village’.
I also think the term ‘withdraw’ is putting it mildly, considering the situation existing there at this time. An orderly withdraw may have been possible a week ago - not any more.

[Experts say Russia is firing more artillery shells every ten days than America makes in a year. Now give new eyes to those “stupid obsolete” Russian systems that America and NATO never even built, like this mobile 240mm mortar.]

Long destructive slog of a war with the bigger side gaining ground. Its what I expected. And yet there are so many headlines that have come out that made it sound like the invasion and even Putin’s political power were on the verge of collapse.
800 civilians rescued from Azovot chemical plant by Chechen forces.
They're not calling it a village. Lysychansk is the city, Luhansk is the breakaway region - Luhansk Peoples Republic.
The Ukraine may have had serious doubts about regaining places like Severdontesk and Mariupol. Rather than destroying the steel and chemical plants themselves, the Ukraine decided to let people die just so Russia would be the one destroying these assets.

This war was sanctioned by the Russian establishment, regardless of Putin. The war will go on with or without Putin, personalities are trivial in this war.
Russia will turn Ukraine into waste land, they’ll knock down every building in the Ukraine, if it keeps The West out of Ukraine for a generation.
Russia has time, geography, history, and the will power to see their foreign policy through.
The West on the other hand has the patience of gnat, while waving their rainbow flags around.
But this is impossible! Ukraine is winning! At least, that’s what I’m being told here every day by our resident contingent of globalists.
The maneuverability of that machine is amazing.
ZSU has several lines of defense to withdraw to. First line is Bilohorivka (not the one on the river, but the one to the south). Those are the lines, unless the politicians say otherwise like the political decision to hold Severodonetsk
