On Friday, when the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, the 1973 decision establishing a woman’s constitutional right to an abortion, the three Democratic appointees — Justices Stephen Breyer, Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor — wrote a forthright response casting the majority’s decision as a blow to women’s civil rights.
“With sorrow — for this Court, but more, for the many millions of American women who have today lost a fundamental constitutional protection — we dissent,” they wrote.
“Today, the Court … says that from the very moment of fertilization, a woman has no rights to speak of,” they continued. “A State can force her to bring a pregnancy to term, even at the steepest personal and familial costs.”
Citing laws that have already been passed in more conservative states and would now take effect, they warned of dire consequences in states that will now be free to ban abortion without exceptions for rape or incest, or when bringing a pregnancy to term risks the mother’s health.

So what?.
How is the child’s fault that he is the product of rape?
Why should the child be condemned to death (and not the rapist parent)?
A summary of my take on recent events:
The Dobbs (abortion) case: The US Supreme Court decision is constitutionally sound. The Court has jurisdiction over the unconstitutional Court decision in Roe v. Wade and finally overturned it. Roe v. Wade was unconstitutional because 1) the feds have no constitutional authority regarding abortions and 2) the feds have no jurisdiction over state abortion laws.
The Bruen (gun) case: The US Supreme Court decision is constitutionally unsound because the Court has no jurisdiction over NY State gun laws. This appears to be a victory for our Free Constitutional Republic, but it is not because it strengthens more unconstitutional federal power over the states. The greatest threat to our lives and wellbeing is the unconstitutionally unlimited and totalitarian power of the federal government.
CriiiiiCKETS!
You are so, so right.
It’s a racket.
Re: 4 - what an ignorant post,
Good grief, some FR posters are incredibly ignorant.
Also a specious canard. Rapees are likely to resist abortion because that would be two crimes against themselves i.e. avenging a rape with a murder. Most rapee abortions are coerced by family and doctors.
I do see...therefore, using their method of expanding the court's majority ruling into every kind of threat to women's health, I will expand their statement into disgust for and distrust of the Constitution. Slicing it anyway one likes, it is hypocrisy to wrap themselves in the banner of women's rights, while ignoring the rights of the unborn. Do these cretins think the founders did not also recognize the rights of children?
America is infected with a species of social and economic termite that won't stop devouring the basis of our greatness until they have spread their misery to every last one of us.
Original meaning jurisprudence casts an attentive eye on evidence of the intent if the individuals that enacted the statute or Constitutional provision in question, but only allows the Court to credit the same as valid and duly informative to the extent that it squares reasonably with the actual language and terminology and grammar used. You’ll allow that modern legislators are proficient at laying down unnecessarily ambiguous language in a proposed statute (or Constitutional amendment) that appears to mean a first thing, blathering on about said language before the same is passed into law in such a way as to accord to it a second meaning, different than and distinct from the first, and then, after the same is passed into law or ratified by the states, surprisingly or shockingly claiming in an Aticle III federal court that it actually has a third meaning, that third meaning being entirely different from both the first and the second.
So...original intent, while understandable from a theoretical standpoint, quickly revealed itself as an inadequate test, in and of itself, when interpreting statutory or Constitutional language.
After making it to the 198th trimester, Roe V. Wade has been aborted. Conceived all the way back on January 22, 1973, Roe V. Wade has been struck down after a decision was passed down today by the Supreme Court.
6 out of the 9 Justices decided to terminate the longstanding federal law. According to Doctors who performed the procedure, “Roe V Wade did not feel a thing as it was ripped apart word by word, syllable from syllable as it was fed through the paper shredder.”
According to sources, the Justices claimed court autonomy gave them the right to do whatever they wanted to do with this document even up to the moment of delivery. They claimed “Our Court Our Choice!” and ruled that it was their God-given right to take this fledgling, defenseless document that had barely begun its 198th trimester and terminate it on a whim.
Many pro-abortion activists have been immensely distraught and devastated by this action calling the decision “LITERALLY MURDER!” and that this is “not something the court alone can decide!”. Christians have been quick to comfort those upset by this action by reminding them that Roe V. Wade was just a clump of words and it’s really not even viable until the 199th trimester anyway.

Regardless, it’s the not babies fault.
For those complaining, well what if your mother was raped and YOU were the baby in the womb?
“rape is never pursued to the point of the rapist being held accountable”
Yeah, and you are a total counter productive idiot. You are literally asserting “never” - do you still want to stand by that stupidity? A rapist has never been held accountable for a rape that has ended up in pregnancy and abortion. Never? Don’t be such an idiot, you are going to Tod Akin the whole country into legal abortions with that kind of stupid rhetoric.
Not if she reads and heeds my tagline.
“The US Supreme Court decision is constitutionally unsound because the Court has no jurisdiction over NY State gun laws.”
Please consider the following:
“Section 4 Government. The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion...”
Is the action by SCOTUS not justified on the basis of the foregoing Constitutional provision?
How best to protect the citizens of the several states against “Invasion” than by allowing them to arm themselves and carry, as against certain powers-that-be bent on warping state-level governmental forms beyond all recignition?
Kind of repulsive from a man who won’t acknowledge his own grand child of his degenerate son. And he acts like he cares about people. Joe is a puke.
Less than 1% of abortions are for rape/incest.
SCARE TACTIC. FEAR PORN.
The VAST MAJORITY of abortions are for “elective/economic” reasons, read “convenience”.
It was just more “convenient” for me to KILL my baby. I mean at this time in my life, it (a baby) would just be a distraction, inconvenient.
“...only a tiny fraction of the so-called “hard cases” (out of a million abortions annually in the U.S.) are why women abort.”
Charge all abortionists with Capital MURDER and watch how fast abortions stop.
If not good enough, start charging ALL women who have abortions with Capital Murder for hire.
ZERO MERCY, just the same mercy they showed their babies.
Three faces of pure EVIL.
Lefties sure do like to fantasize about rape.
All 63,000,000 aborted eh?
Perhaps now, the culture will begin to regain some sanity and women will realize their worth does not consist of ....... every male they see in order to act just like men.
An excellent description of the California ballot proposition process.
They are again the death penalty for mass murderers. It’s one of their fall back defenses when they are losing to talk about rape.
So, women should use birth control of some type ‘just in case’ they get raped?
