Montgomery County Police Chief Marcus Jones provided more details on CNN about the man who is accused of attempting to carry out an assassination attempt on Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
Nicholas Roske, who flew from California to Washington, D.C., was upset at the potential overturning of Roe v. Wade that was revealed to the general public after a draft opinion for an upcoming ruling was leaked in May. He was also angry at another case that could be a big win for gun rights.
Jones said the Roske took a taxi to the neighborhood where Kavanaugh lives with his family in Maryland and changed his plan after noticing the U.S. Marshals who were guarding the home. Kavanaugh's house, along with the residences of the other conservative justices, has been the site of constant protests from pro-abortion advocates after their addresses were leaked online.
"At which point in time he began to walk down the street to actually — to see the residence where he observed the U.S. Marshals, who were actually there guarding the U.S. Supreme Court justice and his family. So the individual decided to continue to walk by, but in the meantime he texted his sister to tell her what his intentions were...She convinced him to actually to pick up the phone and call 911 to basically turn himself in and not to do what he had planned to do," Jones explained.

You can fly with a firearm in checked in luggage.
I think you can legally transport pistols, rifles and shotguns via checked baggage.. rules apply, but possible
Right, hadn't considered that - I don't trust the TSA with anything valuable in my checked bags.
He had some help,he couldn’t have smuggled a gun from California on a plane.
No...he is the FIB's newest recruit! Ray Epps is one of his instructors!
About those “other pieces of equipment”:

He also had ammunition, zip ties, pepper spray, duct tape and other items that he told police he’d planned to use to break into Kavanaugh’s home and kill him, according to a criminal complaint.
There are federal “procedures” in place that allow carrying hand guns/long guns on commercial aircraft. Maybe he followed them and retrieved his weapon at the airport but i doubt he was smart enough to do so. If it wasn’t done properly then the TSA failed Justice Kavanaugh.
Can’t get enough of the word “actually”.
If you look back at his actions during the Vince Foster murder.....I think I'm right.
And his SC voting seems to seal it up for me.
Maybe ALL FAKE just to SCARE Kavanaugh and his wife and kids and talk him into changing his mind!!
And just HOW did Nancy Pelosi KNOW that NO ONE would be in DANGER this past weekend?? HOW DID SHE KNOW!! SHE WAS TOTALLY CONFIDENT ABOUT IT!!
From another source (very strange one):

The suspect was found with a backpack having the items like A black tactical chest rig and tactical knife, a Glock 17 pistol, zip ties, a hammer, a screwdriver, crowbar, duct tape, hiking boots, and other items.
According to the online records, Nicholas John Roske is around 26 years old and belongs to Simi Valley, California. There is a LinkedIn page on the name of Nicholas Roske of Simi Valley which says that he is working as an office manager at a pest control company. However, he quit his job at the company last year and according to VC Star, he was on the cross country team in high school. He attended Simi Valley High School and his friends couldn’t believe that Nick is the person behind this.
Could be the same manner she knew when to vanish during the 1/6 kerfuffle right before the sounds of the approaching visitors were heard.
.
Further, there are only a few reasons to threaten Supreme Court Justices, and the least of those is Intimidation.
It’s clear as can be, but they just buried the story.
Like Antifa and BLM, Dems love Political Violence.
Same with the Networks.
Where was Matthew McConaughey when heads were being fractured by BLM?
He’s just trying to avoid paying his girl friends child support. If they all get abortions he’s home free.
The FBI will hire him as part of the new security detail for the court justices.
Here is the suspect’s explanation for what he tried to do:
Nicholas John Roske, 26, told police that he “began thinking about how to give his life purpose and decided that he would kill the Supreme Court Justice after finding the Justice’s Montgomery County address on the Internet,” court documents allege.

I’m confused. The guy FLEW from CA to DC, and had a gun? Where/how did he get the gun? He clearly didn’t bring it with him on the plane, or if he did, the TSA has some ‘splaining to do.

As far as I know there’s nothing illegal about traveling by airline across the U.S. with an unloaded firearm in your CHECKED luggage. It’s probably not smart, because of the risk of theft.
It all makes perfect sense. He had some "new friends".
A mentally ill person gets just a little bit of encouragement from people with whom he regularly interacts. It does not take very much. There is a clearly defined mission described by multiple sources. The targeted actor internalizes the mission as his own idea. Obsessive people with a lot of time on their hands can make some very good plans for such missions. Maybe some very indirect logistical assistance shows up at a critical moment.
That leaves a trail of indicators which is possible to find, if authorities want to look for them. It is clear that authorities do not want to look for them.
Difficult to control the exact timing of these things, but if enough such people are cultivated, one of them will likely cook off at an opportune moment. Exactly who that person will be does not really matter.
We have cultural and institutional systems in place right now for manufacturing psychotic individuals. When the basic incentive is "never let a crisis go to waste", those systems will make more of them and set them loose.
No central conspiracy or directions are required. Everybody in the system knows what to do and does their part.
