Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume said Monday on FNC’s “Special Report” that many Republicans would be privately very happy if the House Select Committee, which is investigating the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot, damages Donald Trump to the point he can’t be the presidential nominee in 2024.
Anchor Bret Baier asked, “I guess the question still is, are they moving towards trying to make a legal case against Donald Trump, or one that is a political case to somehow prevent him from being a factor in 2024?”
Hume said, “Well, I think they’re doing both. Jamie Raskin, one of the committee members, has said, you know, part of what they’re doing is to create something that can be referred to the justice department for possible prosecution. What strikes me about this, Bret is that if they succeed – either by damaging him or staining him such that he is either unable or for legal or for political reasons to run again – they might end up finding out that they’ve done the Republican Party a great service, because I think a great many Republicans think they can’t win with Trump at the head of the ticket again. They are afraid of his supporters and don’t want to come out against him directly. But they’d like him to go away. If the effect of this committee is to make his possible candidacy go away, I think a great many Republicans would privately be very glad.”

The so-called "Republicans" in question don't like the stumbling block that President Trump presents to their nefarious and crooked dealings.
That is some doubletalk scripted nonsense. Hume is at the age where he appears to have stopped doing his background work, so he needs to be careful about what some producer puts in his ear 10 minutes in the green room.
"because I think a great many RINOs, swamp RATS, and toe-tapping political operatives think they can’t win with Trump at the head of the ticket again. They are afraid of his supporters and don’t want to come out against him directly."
FIXED.
He’s right. We’re dealing with a uniparty, with the exception of a handful (one handful). Hume is on-board with this also.
And many conservatives would be glad if Brit Hume went away!
And Trump shined the light on the cockroaches.
And many conservatives would be glad if Brit Hume went away!
They are Assistant Democrats.
And many conservatives would be glad if Brit Hume went away!
Including HumeIdiot.....
Hume was talking about the politicians.
What strikes me about this, Bret is that if they [Jan 6 Cmmte, DOJ] succeed - either by damaging him or staining him such that he is either unable or for legal or for political reasons to run again - they might end up finding out that they've done the Republican Party a great service, because I think a great many Republicans think they can't win with Trump at the head of the ticket again. They are afraid of his supporters and don't want to come out against him directly. But they'd like him to go away. If the effect of this committee is to make his possible candidacy go away, I think a great many Republicans would privately be very glad."The politicians and the Trump supporters are disparate groups. Their goals and objectives do not coincide, and are probably contrary to one another. The policitians' primary interest is "to win," and "many Republicans think they can't win with Trump at the head," "they'd like him to go away."
I think he is correct here. The professional politicans detest the public.
The thing is, they get to self-declare their legitimacy, and that conclusion is final as a matter of law. There is nothing in the constitution that says opposing parties have a right to a voice in a committee. House rules say that the minority party has a right to a voice, but house rules are not even law and the house can and does ignore its own rules at will. No court is going to weigh in on house rules.
Assistant Democrats - bump for later...
The calculus is one of use of force, not one of numbers. The government is willing even eagar to use force of violence to maintain its power. And it has trained armies, bombs, jets, munitions and so on. It will of course use these tools against the public, if there is a whiff of serious threat. Did so in Whiskey rebellion, for example, and many others.
The government is right now instigating what it hopes is a reaction that includes use of force. It will keep pushing until it gets the reaction it wants. Then it will drop the hammer.
It's going to be spectacular, and the good guys will lose - on earth, not in eternity.
Oh, I do believe that the GOPe politicians have made it quite clear that they do not like the Trump supporters within the party. That is why I, and I assume I am not alone, have refused to send a single penny to the Republican Party campaign donation requests. Shift delete is my immediate response to those requests. They will get my vote, until it comes to Bill Cassidy. If we are not able to primary him in 2024, I will not vote for him in the general election.
Not BS.
Those Congress critters like Paul Ryan dislike Trump and don’t want to see him again
Liz Cheney
Adam Kinsinger
And others
We live Trump. They dont
Screw Hume. For decades this twit has masqueraded as a conservative and spouting his fatherly wisdom on Sunday Talk Shows about conservatism and working with the left.
He’s just another comfortable-with-second-tier power globalist content in his own little DC/NYC world of parties, get-togethers and noshes with the left. He was an obedient alternate voice - not too vocal. He’s just paid opposition that really isn’t. Did I say screw him? Well, screw him again.
Maybe the elite GOPers in DC, but not us common folk.
A whole lot of signaling going on here.
Oh Brittney, how silly of you, old girl.
