Gov. Ron DeSantis is downplaying recent straw polls showing him as a leading presidential prospect in 2024.
DeSantis has outperformed former President Donald Trump in a number of such informal surveys at various events in recent weeks, a phenomenon leading to an increasing amount of stories on the seeming trend.
As he has done when asked about a desire to run for President in 2024, DeSantis sidestepped the question.
“I don’t do straw polls. They just put my name into these things, you know? It’s just, like, so what am I supposed to do? Like they sell merchandise and everything. I kind of would like to get royalties on that,” DeSantis quipped Wednesday in Fort Myers Beach.
DeSantis continues to demonstrate a national reach with the most passionate partisans in the party as a potential alternative to the former President.

Unlike you, I view Trump as a grown man who is responsible for his choices, including his hiring decisions. He is not a weakling captive to stronger men. Show him more respect!
He won’t announce until after Florida’s gubernatorial election is behind him.
If he talked now about running for president, his opponents would be able to effectively message that he doesn’t really want to be FL governor.
I wholeheartedly agree!
I never said nor implied that he wasn’t capable.
Of course you miss my point. No one can point to anyone in dc that is any good whom trump hired that did not get framed, accused and or arrested. Or who was good then turned on him
You’re using propaganda
What are you talking about?
The Leftists are going to do what they always do
I’m not sure about that. Trump was denied his second term by Deep State/ Globalist overlords. They certainly, without hesitation, would do the same with DeSantis
Yes. We understand that
This talk about DeSantis being the anti trump is designed to divide and conquer. People here fall for it like teenage girls with a crush
Not sure what you’re talking about. If you are questioning if I’m a conservative, you would be very, very wrong. I am however objective, and I don’t worship any politician. I am a Jeffersonian conservative, who puts the conservative movement first, above all else. What I think is good for the movement will always take precedence over any given politician. Keep that in mind if you will, and you will understand the motivation behind my comments.
Exactly.
Mitt Romney was a darling of the Left until he ran against Obama in 2008. Then for a few months he was mercilessly attacked during the general campaign. Magic underwear, women in binders, dog strapped to top of station wagon...Romney was suddenly the most evil man in the world.
Ironically, conservatives now agree on that point, though Romney has gone back to being a darling of the Left.
I doubt we ever recover from the Kenyansesian Usurpation.
We tried to restore the Republic after the Kenyanesian Usurpation and look what happened.
They hobbled Trump’s entire term and then cheated him out of office.
And it was bipartisan, all of it.
I haven’t given up on the country yet, but I fear 2024 will be our last chance to pull our chestnuts out of the fire. The conservative movement and the country badly need to WIN in 2024.
And. Trump should run for DeSantis' job.
Trump could probably live out his remaining productive years as an extremely successful gov/king of FL. DC is a hateful cesspool and half the problem is that half his own party there hates Trump. In FL Trump could have a more effective admin, a much more cooperative legislative branch and a more reasonable judicial situation. Plus a much more friendly hometown population.
He has done the prez thing, kick some trade ass, got us out of the Paris Treaty, etc. Things he could do without cooperation. Now, how about putting his money where his mouth is and show everybody how to be the best state executive ever - not that Ron did anything bad.
DeSantis would have a potential full 8 yrs to implement some actual change at the fed level. And by change I mean what Trump never did - push for sending power back to the states. And with Trump at the state level, he'd likely be in favor of that now.
This is the GOP RNC hard at work seeking to do their magic
at the expense of Conservatives.
Look folks, I like DeSantis and definitely see a White House
future for him. In 2024 it’s Trump’s turn.
The party did everything in its power to destroy Trump, and
I think he’s still very sharp and deserves an opportunity
to book end this terrible attack on the nation, so that
it will be loud and clear who and what ideology caused
what is taking place right now.
Oh stop!
Good freaking grief.
So you’re saying that the man that came closest in my
lifetime to following through with what he promised to do,
should be relegated to the pasture?
Pure grade A cow droppings.
“In 2024 it’s Trump’s turn.”
Yikes.
TrumpRyanCare?
After that pantload you just dumped on the forum, you have
the nerve to post “Yikes” to the truth?
Tell me grand master BuddhaBrown, what business involvement
has DeSantis had? Has he run a multi-level global management
system in his life? Has he negotiated and put together
$100s of billions of dollar deals? Does he have a record
of putting our nation on a rapid growth rate, helping
the nation become energy self-sufficient? Did he get the
unemployment numbers for Blacks, Hispanics, and women,
down to record lows, or close to it (in the case of women)?
Was he the first US President to avoid starting a new war
in a generation? Did we see relative peace with North
Korea holding off on their missile firings for four years?
Just exactly what is your claim to fame for DeSantis as it
relates to taking over a recession or worse, and somehow
being better than Trump in the few areas I mentioned above?
I like DeSantis and have faith he’ll do a good job in time,
but yes, it is Trump’s turn after having the 2020 election
stolen from him, us, and the nation?
LMAO
Desperation sets in...
Trump achievements in office...

Double Yikes!
That type of logic is how we ended up with Dole, McCain, etc.
Trump did some very good. He did some very bad. Nobody deserves a 'turn'.
