American bombers dropped tons of bombs on Mt. Fuji. I climbed Fuji leading my unit with about 160 soldiers in 1993. We had a great time and this old first sergeant was number 33 to top, even as I lagged behind to kept stragglers moving forward. The bombs were dropped on the old volcano site and when the USA figured out we could not re-iginite the lava flow we dropped incendiaries’ every 12 hours or so to keep it burning - this was done to keep Tokyo in fear of the volcano. We burned Tokyo four times to ground - mostly wooden city. The Japanese were follwers of Shinto and many were also Buddist. Essentiallly Japan was still a backwards sort of religious people having shunned most of the Western religions and for 80 they sent envoys and trade missions to acquire technologies from Italy, Germany, the US, etc.

The Japanese people were ready to defend their homeland in a losing cause.

At Camp Zama, Japan the Emperor’s bomb shelter and the building of the old Japanese military academy are still maintained. I spent three years there, and have a deep abiding love and respect for the ordinary Japanese. Now having said that within the population are backstabbers and yet there are also decent people. The Japanese did horrible things to prisioners, but the culture of warfare was not the same as in the West or Europe where diplomacy over centuries dictated the treatment of the defeated.

Japan knew they were losing, just as Germany knew... but what the hell are you going to do except fight? The atomic bomb convinced the Emperor to end the war; MacArthur was the brilliant man who bought Japan into the modern era after WWII. I have met and talked with many of his staff - they were Masons as was I while in the Army. Now I don’t believe all the BS about Masons, but I gave it up as well. In Japan only the richest men like the chairmen of Sony, Toshiba, etc., could be a mason... to this day.

As for Russia, they are winning an ugly war. They took huge losses in the beginning and they have bad days still; however, the Uke’s are losing between 500-1500 men a day and within two weeks the Donbas will be cleared one way or the other, e.g., surrender or destroyed by artillery. They are not allowed to surrender and many are more afraid of being captured than dying... a sad situation because the AZOR’s were attacking the break a way Donbas for the past 8 years. Russia is now putting them on trail. The river will divide the Ukraine by 1/3 Russian and 2/3s Ukrainian. Reports are that NATO War Reserve Stocks and US warfighting munitions are down to a two week threshold. I am sure the Ukraine will continue to lob shells at Russia even after hositilities are supposed to end as this in their historic nature or MO since 2014.

My classmate in the foreign service was in Georgia when Russia invaded. Russia esentially rolled in and stopped at the River and an undefended bridge... of course US diplomats thought the Russians would continue to advance but this took just enough to send a message. My friend was quite happy to see it end without an evacuation.

Every conflict is multinational. Every conflict has its roots in the history. This conflict is no different. By the time this little NATO miscalculation is over, the maps will be redrawn and energy will flow in different directions - and Europe will eventually get its Russian oil from Turkey or a middle man. Money will be made on transporation. Biden’s corruption is mostly to blame for this war.

There should be no statute of limitations on corruption or laws broken by politicans. Trust and rule of law in American is at an all time low and the breakdown in US society is a direct result of illegal democrat activities of selective law enforcement and corruption.

Not only were they being bombed, they weren’t being bombed before that. The Japanese people knew they were losing bases to the Americans. By August of 1942, we knew the Japanese were going to lose. I’m listening to radio broadcasts from 1942 in my car and it’s pretty bleak in early 1942 despite all the winning we say we are doing.

I guess that’s why over half the ukrainians captured by the Russians are sporting swastika tattoos, right?

Cost per missile depends on the type fired, of course. If a GMLRS is fired from the HIMARS launcher the cost per round is under $200,000 (2017 cost data).

I have seen no such evidence, though Russian leadership in the Donbass has indeed taken photographs of themselves sporting Swastikas. As with all things Russia, they project their own tendencies on others:

Russia will lose in the East, and keep in mind we are only talking about a few short miles of area with no military or economic value to the Russians over the past 48 hours. Their recent successes were from finally concentrating their forces onto a singular goal instead of having them invade from every direction without a clear goal, but their goal is still political and they do not have the manpower to actually hold any of their gains.

As it stands, Russian intercepted communications reveal they are so afraid to lose armor they are no longer sending out forces to recover injured troops, and Russia is now bringing in WW2 era tanks to the front after having lost more than a thousand of their modern tanks.

Meanwhile, Ukraine is still massing its reserves, which will number more than 700,000 by late June and July.

Russia has failed to take the Donbass which should have been taken within the first few days of the invasion and no longer have the forces to hold any of the minor gains they've taken over the past few days, meanwhile Ukraine continues its minor counteroffensives, even performing river crossings which the Russians are too dumb to know how to do.

“There are no American infidels in Baghdad. Never!

Today, the tide has turned, we are destroying them. They’re not even within 100 miles of Baghdad. They are not in any place. They hold no place in Iraq. This is an illusion... they are trying to sell to the others an illusion.

Our initial assessment is that they will all die.”

Check out the ukrainian clown at the 36 second mark. He actually has a photo of Adolph Hitler tattooed on his arm.

You have seen no evidence?

You said "half of all captured Ukrainians." I've actually seen evidence of Russians desperately searching prisoners for such offending tattoos but could not find any or only once in a blue moon like the video above. (It did not help that a large number of Azov fighters were Jewish and other minorities.) I know that you were told that "half" were found in this way, which in your lack of critica thinking skills you accepted as fact. A shame you do not seem to be phased at all at "separatist" leadership in the Donbass being wholly made up of self-proclaimed Fascists. Strelkov even ran a fascist magazine, and still has psycopaths on his show ranting about how the Ukraine is controlled by the Jews.

I can only conclude from this that you are Pro-Nazi, as long as the Nazis are Russian.

I spent 33 years in the military and foreign service. Nothing you think or hope is going to end this favorably for a divided Ukraine. Putin is doing what’s in Russia’s self interest. Meanwhile the DNC and Biden have lost credibility and are driving the West into a recession. Europe will have to Live With Russia, period. The Ukraine will only be in Donbas another week before last week’s 30,000 are finished off. Keep on rooting for the Ukraine but be prepared to be disappointed. Russia will get those areas important to them. It’s all over except for Biden and Z-linsky accepting the terms of peace, e.g., stay on the west side of the river.

Russia can't even take the Donbass and keeps changing their goals for something smaller after each failure. You do not know what you are talking about despite your 33 years.

Imagine a Free Republic where some little no-nothing POS with a sign-up date of 2013 gets to insult Class of 1998 freepers who spent 33 years serving their country honorably.

Oh, wait - you don't have to imagine it - you just saw it.

Projecting, are we? For flame wars, add hominem and stir.

You want to know what I really think about the war in Ukraine? The Ukrainians have to beat Russia, to contain Putin’s stated threat to “denazify” all of Eastern Europe, including Poland, and Hungary and resurrect the glorious empire of Catherine the Great. Nothing impartial about it at all. If he attacks NATO members as he threatens, Article Five will mandate a military response, in other words, World War III. Similarly, if NATO members become directly involved in the conflict, WW III will be triggered, so all they can or should do is supply arms, intelligence, and diplomatic support, same as the Soviet Union did in Vietnam and the US did during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.

You say that this is “Biden’s illegal war”? Who is invading whom?

As for Biden, he has certainly exacerbated the situation and made it inevitable. First, he tucked tail in Afghanistan, making America look weak. Second, he drove the price of energy sky high, giving Putin the financial wherewithal to stage his invasion. Third, he sent Ditzy the Cackling Whore to Europe to voice her support of Ukraine joining NATO, which Putin regards as a threat, perhaps correctly. I wouldn’t be surprised if these are deliberate moves mandated by his true masters, but this is not “Biden’s illegal war,” this is Putin’s. Biden’s obvious duplicity/incompetence does not in any way exculpate Putin for invading Ukraine, or explicitly menacing the other former Soviet Republics and Satellites.

As for which discussions, videos and articles I post here, I’ll post anything that gives me food for thought, regardless of the conclusions reached, in the hopes of having a normal conversation with intelligent people, perhaps someone more knowledgeable than myself. That does not include you.

These are my beliefs. I don’t really GAGS what yours are, except to the extent that you’ve tipped your hands in this brief spat, and I’ve said all I have to say about them. Go pick a fight with someone in your league, in a sports bar or whatever. Run along.

Hi guy, I know you posted this yesterday, but I would appreciate your opinion.

Why do FReepers chose a side in this war? Why is there such animus between the factions?

Zelinsky is corrupt. Putin is corrupt. Both have oligarchs who put them in office (Soros). Both speak Russian.

What does it come down to? My dick is bigger than yours?

Well, I’m neutral. I was trained to kill communists wherever they came from.

I wouldn’t call your rambling spew “beliefs”, instead it’s a primer on Neoconservativism as practiced by the usual suspects. You’re a charter member given the slop you posted while pretending to hold no position on Biden’s illegal war and subsequent money grab. The good news for me is this will be the last war you war 🐷 pigs will prosecute. It’s over and so is your rancid foreign policy. Now run along and don’t post crap like this again asking for comments. You might get more than your precious little feelings can handle.
