The bombardment threatens to shut off the last main escape route for civilians trapped in the path of the invasion, which continues into its fourth month.

Russia has poured thousands of troops into the region, attacking from three sides in an attempt to encircle Ukrainian forces holding out in the city of Sievierodonetsk and its twin Lysychansk.

For people who are wondering why the best, most experienced, troops in Ukraine’s military are in the far east of their country, and have been before the war, the reason was to apply their ‘Final Solution’ to the Donbas problem.

In fact, they had stepped up the shelling in advance for an assault on the Russian areas, just before Russia started its Special Military Operation.

“When you’re rootin’ for Putin you’ve got your head up your Donbas!”

When you root for a Neocon victory...

I know history. I know that Ukrainian resistance to Soviet reconquer lasted almost a decade after WWII. And that was with no help from outside. Even if Russia does “win” they’ll be getting attacked in that territory for a long long time.

“You don’t usually bomb the hell out of territory you’ve conquered. Doesn’t sound anywhere near over.”

Why would you lay waste to lands that you (Russia) wants for access to Black Sea ports and Crimea? Putin and his Russians are demented and self-defeating. Must be the vodka that tells them what to do.

“But it has been a very costly process for their leadership to figure this out.”

More costly for Europe, which emptied their armories and now see gas prices triple. Most costly for the Third World, now looking at famine.

...and to think, it all could have been avoided if the Neocons allowed Zelensky to negotiate in good faith, both before and early during the war.

But I do like the way the United States is CLEANING UP at the expense of Europe!!!

So if the Mexican government “recognized” the southern third of Texas it would be legal for them to bomb San Antonio?

I don’t think you’ve thought this through.

Zelensky has only got a couple more weeks before many more Ukrainians realize what’s going on as they lose their eastern front and thousands of men, and turn against sending more drafted men to slaughter with no negotiation stance

Military unit surrenders are ramping up

Without a negotiated framework that defines where Russia stops, and prevents wider intervention by outside powers like Poland, even globalist hawks like Kissinger are warning the Ukes to seek a settlement that stops the war

Clown, or should I say Jack Roberts

Why would anyone take you seriously? You claim to have a "pirate name" and you sign off each of your posts with the pretentious "L"

How old are you?

“You don’t usually bomb the hell out of territory you’ve conquered. Doesn’t sound anywhere near over.”

True - the Kiev government never bombed (or even bothered) Donbas or Crimea, for 24 YEARS (and Russia never bothered Ukraine)...but then it all changed, once the Neocon coup took place in 2014, and then only got worse, until the Special Military Operation began.

“We all get the Neville Chamberlain reference.”

You may get the reference, but you still haven’t gotten the point.

“What is their legal justification for that?”

Still waiting for the ‘legal justification’ for our bombing of Serbia. Pretty much set the example of how countries behave in the post-Cold War world.

I do not believe Russia will conquer but they will attempt to steal as much land as possible. The Cossacks will still ride the Steppe and the wheel of history will turn again in the future. The eastern Ukraine is very much the soul of the Ukraine. Even my Russian-speaking Donbas family say so. In the Russian-speaking areas, Ukrainian is still spoken in many villages.

“More costly for Europe, which emptied their armories and now see gas prices triple.”

Europe paid in treasure, while Russia pays in blood and treasure. I think Europe will take that trade any day of the week.

“...and to think, it all could have been avoided if the Neocons allowed Zelensky to negotiate in good faith, both before and early during the war.”

Any war could be “avoided” if everyone just surrendered to every barbarian and bully who came looking to conquer, loot and pillage. But then we’d live in a world of no law but the law of naked force, and that would be a world with much more bloodshed and suffering than the one we live in now.

Russia is learning to fight a major war again by letting the idiotic, old guard generals reap their own folly by getting killed in combat and then replacing them with younger officers who have learned the hard way how to fight on the battlefield. America’s military would improve overnight if half of the generals and officers were forced to retire immediately and replaced with new blood.

“...and prevents wider intervention by outside powers like Poland”

I was worried about Poland, but they just emptied their armories to become target practice for Russia - just to be told by Germany yesterday that replacement hardware won’t arrive for years. So if they do move into Ukraine, as many predict, it won’t be by force.

“Europe paid in treasure, while Russia pays in blood and treasure. I think Europe will take that trade any day of the week.”

Except Russia will now obtain a MASSIVE amount of real estate that they didn’t have at the beginning of the year...so kind of offsets.

I’m sorry, but if there is one thing on the planet that Russia has no shortage of, it is real estate. I don’t think that should be their highest priority right now.
