WAYNESVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — A sign for a strip club in North Carolina is causing controversy.
The bright green sign reads: “Future site of The Hoochie Hut – 24-hour adult superstore and strip club. C****** soon."
Rich Black, who lives feet away from the sign, has some concerns.
It’s not appropriate,” Black said. “I’m glad I don’t have kids here. They had some fun with the word ‘coming’ and that’s just not appropriate I mean, really? Come on!” In addition to traffic and parking issues, Black said he’s worried about the financial impacts of the potential new business, and he did some online research.
“The only thing that would be worse for lowering your property value would be if you have a bad school district,” Black said. “It would be better if this was a sewer plant instead of a strip joint!”
According to Black, he also looked up Haywood County’s planning and zoning regulations.
“You can’t have anything like that unless it’s more than 1,300 feet from the edge of the property,” Black said. “I’m one of those that say you can do whatever you want with your property, but if it’s against zoning ordinances as far as I know, or it’s seriously impacting people next to you, then maybe we need to think about this [and] have a meeting of the minds.”

The landowner was catching grief from his neighbors and the city about junk cars on his lot. He is probably just trolling them all with the sign. It did get everyone in an uproar.

LOL!
I saw a similar sign today. It advertised a pig farm opening on the outskirts of town. The sign also said something about a turned down zoning request.
You might be a redneck...
Surely a joke?
I can’t imagine ‘that’ in Waynesville proper or anyplace close by……
Asheville maybe or Raleigh……but not Waynesville!
Having said that I never imagined an LBGQ parade in the streets of Sylva but it happened recently
Sweet ‘church on every corner’ North Carolina is being pressured by the wrong groups……..
Landowner to Club Owner: “I need a free 24hr VIP pass good for 10 years and a $200 club credit card twice a month.” Then I’ll back the club.

I saw that at a place right next to a highway in a growing suburban location 30 years ago. It was a 400 acre farm with prime commercial road front. The county denied the rezoning request so the farmer put up a fence and stocked it with a couple of dozen sows with a sign saying it was lawful under the current ordinance.
It lasted for a year before being rezoned. The entire farm is now shopping centers, subdivisions, apartments and soccer fields.
And don't call me Shirley.
It *IS* located right next to a trailer park, a ready-made source of clientele for such a business...
Ah. So it is a democrat run district. They couldn't ruin any more schools so they went for the strip joint instead.
Gotta admit it's a catchy name.
“You do the Hoochie coochie and you turn yourself around....”
I thought the story behind it was both hilarious and sad...
Apparently, the town at the next exit was planning for some future expansion of attractions in the town, they put up the sign on the highway in anticipation, but the economy went south, the town went down the tubes, and the attractions were never built.
So, for years, that blank blue sign with nothing on it except "Attractions - Exit 5" presented itself to curious drivers who wondered why the sign was there with nothing on it.
That's that sad part.
The hilarious part is some prankster saw the opportunity, created a stencil using sticky-backed reflective paper and stuck it on the sign.
I don't care who you are, that's pretty ingenious and funny!
Definitely has some R-rated possiblities.
“You stick your r**** **** in.....”
...
“and you shake it all about....”
come on man
The TV station tried contacting Mr. Hootchie for his side of the story but were told he was too busy reviewing employment applications...
This reminds me that I need to get some dollar bills.
