Pelosi barred from Holy Communion over abortion advocacy
The Pillar ^ | 05/20/22 | Staff

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is barred from receiving the Eucharist in the Archdiocese of San Francisco because of her efforts to codify federal protection for abortions, according to a May 20 statement from Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone.

“I must make a public declaration that [Pelosi] is not to be admitted to Holy Communion unless and until she publicly repudiate her support for abortion ‘rights’ and confess and receive absolution for her cooperation in this evil in the sacrament of Penance. I have accordingly sent her a Notification to this effect, which I have now made public,” Cordileone wrote in a letter released Friday.

The archbishop’s move came as Pelosi and other Democratic politicians have amplified calls to federally protect or fund access to abortion, amid widespread expectation that the Supreme Court will soon overturn Roe v. Wade.

Pelosi, Speaker of the House since 2019, represents California’s 12th Congressional District, which sits entirely within the city of San Francisco. The Congresswoman is a Catholic, and has often cited her Catholic faith as a formative element of her political worldview.

“That is why I communicated my concerns to you via letter on April 7, 2022, and informed you there that, should you not publicly repudiate your advocacy for abortion ‘rights’ or else refrain from referring to your Catholic faith in public and receiving Holy Communion, I would have no choice but to make a declaration, in keeping with canon 915, that you are not to be admitted to Holy Communion.”

“The time has now come,” Cordileone wrote.

“You are not to be admitted to Holy Communion until such time as you publicly repudiate your advocacy for the legitimacy of abortion and confess and receive absolution of this grave sin in the sacrament of penance.”

My thoughts too

It won’t matter. She’ll take communion anytime she wants

No, will likely be some openly gay catholic priest in San Fran that directly reports the arch bishop... The church has been destroyed from inside by the homosexual cabal... The allowance of openly homosexual, but “non practicing” homosexual men into the priesthood beginning in the late 60s has absolutely destroyed the church from within....

They created their own little enclaves and traded sex for position and power... and protect each other.

Why do you think homosexual priests were simply moved around and around and around? Because to expose one of them would expose them all.... Its not a coincidence that the sexual predation of children by priests grew exponentially in the 70s... it takes 8 years from the time you join seminary to be placed in a parish... They started being placed into parishes in the 70s... and the rates of this crap went through the roof and they covered it up to protect themselves... anyone who stood up to them was pushed out...

To this day I fully believe that Pope Benedict’s “retirement” is a direct result of this Cabal.. there is no doubt the current Pope is either one of them or controlled by them.

She needs to be excommunicated, but I don’t think for one minute she won’t find some gay priest somewhere who will happily give her communion.

Oh she will just go to DC and pretend it’s really communion. The old bat is close to the end of her life and blasphemy won’t look good in the Book of her Life.

As will I. We don't need anti-Catholic rants on FR.

Yes! Me, too.

His father was such a wonderful Catholic. I used to see him every day at St. Patrick’s noonday Mass right down the streetfrom the State Capitol Building when he was Governor.

Also ran into him at the Chapel in Holy Spirit Hospital when his wife was a patient there.

He gave 100% support to our organization, Pennsylvanians for Human Life.

He was a real Catholic and an excellent human being.

The son (Casey Jr.) is one apple who fell far from the tree, rolled downhill, and ended up in a swamp!

She is probably counting on a last minute reprieve when the priest is called to her bedside at the hour of her death.

Maybe, just maybe, the priest wil be held up in traffic and won’t make it in time.

Bravo for Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone.

Now where are the other "leaders" of the Catholic Church? Bishop Cordileone is just underscoring what has been official doctrine since the beginning. Where are all the cowardly bishops hiding?

Peolosi has the blood of millions of Innocent souls are her hands.

At her age and level of decrepitude, her thought are most likely on her own mortality a lot. This makes her vulnerable to fearsome thoughts of damnation she had long ago dismissed.

A priest isn’t needed to have sins forgiven. The problem with the Catholic Church beside being non-biblical, they put themselves at the same level as God.

This thread is not about what you think of Catholicism. It is about politicians who claim to be Catholic and yet hold views and help pass laws that are in violation of the Catholic Church. The fact that they are Catholics is the point. This would not be an issue for a Protestant as they can support abortion and still have Communion. I am not a Catholic, but I support their right to believe what they want and to apply their rules as they see fit.

In internet parlance, what you are doing is called "thread-crapping".

Protestants are cautioned not to take communion if they have anything in their life that makes them unworthy.

The Vatican still hasn’t excommunicated Hitler so I guess barring her from communion for advocating the murder of the unborn is better than having her say ten Hail Marys.
