Funny how NONE of those espousing alternatives to fossil fuels FOR everyone else are themselves not committed to living without fossil fuels RIGHT NOW.
Everything they do takes fossil fuels to accomplish.
I’m just speculating, but with these soaring energy costs, something/someone will break. Millions of people are going to be threatened with the loss of jobs and watching their personal property (trucks/cars) turn to rust, because they cannot afford the fuel. People aren’t mad yet, but give it a couple of months, let that planned vacation get crushed. I don’t think we have ever had such a situation, where government actions have had such a direct effect on people’s finances. Well, not since they confiscated the gold in 1933.
The people most likely to die will be poor, brown Third worlders.

There is only a hundred year supply of oil and gas. The same thing for coal so we have to change to something far less plentiful.

I have an idea. Before we do all that, how about building a solar panel manufacturing facility that runs solely on solar power.
It must manufacture every single component that goes into a completed solar panel system.
Aluminum extrusion for the frame, individual solar cells, stainless steel screws to hold frame together. plastic junction box for the back, all adhesives and sealant.
Must manufacture batteries and charge controllers and inverters and the components that make them up as well.
The entire plant must run off of solar including eclectic company vehicles, electric fork lifts, lighting, machinery, HVAC.
And if you really want to prove ‘sustainability’ it must supply every single employee with an electric vehicle and solar panel systems that will charge the vehicles & completely run their houses.
And it has to make enough of a profit to sustain itself 30 years.
This doesn’t include harvesting the raw materials. Then you get into running a mine on solar power to get the aluminum for the extrusion and all the steps to process it should run on solar and the heavy equipment and 18 wheelers should be electric. And all those employees should be given solar to run their houses.
You might spend the first few years making stuff to run all that stuff.
China and India do not agree.
