Homeowner kills 2 intruders, holds 2 more at gunpoint for police

AUBURN, Ind. (WANE) — An Auburn homeowner shot two suspected armed intruders dead and held two more at gunpoint early Sunday.

It was just before 6 a.m. when four people reportedly broke into a home at 1650 S.R. 8, near the Walmart Distribution Center on Auburn’s far west side.

This is not First Degree Murder - that requires intent to kill, which would be very hard to establish here.

The charge here is Felony Murder.

And the overall crime rate will drop in Auburn IN for about the next several months.

Most drug crimes can be traced to hard core drug addicts.

Baltimore MD - over 50 years ago - showed that arresting and detaining about 100 heroin addicts dropped their theft rate by half.

I wonder how many of these types of home invasions are drug addicts raiding the homes of people who are known to have drugs themselves.

We don't have too many home invasions in our county but the ones we've had the past few years usually involve a home known to be frequented by folks involved in some way with drugs.

Wow! I went to a few Auburn-C-D Festivals 30 years ago. Auburn was a very nice old-fashioned small town.
