Relatives of Buffalo’s supermarket-slaughter suspect are copping the COVID defense, telling The Post on Monday that the teen likely snapped because of his paranoia and isolation from the pandemic.
They added they had no clue their kin, accused 18-year-old Payton Gendron, was an alleged white supremacist and said he clearly needed help after threatening his high-school classmates almost a year ago — although they aren’t sure he ever got it.

Did you not read all my suggestions?
Point was not much would probably be done.
And you don’t know how much they did.
That statement makes it very clear how much they did.
I don’t understand why anyone brings up the standard name-calling. This has been the way all my life. It didn’t start with this mass shooting, or with Trump. All my life our side has been called NAZIs/fascists. Only recently have we finally started openly calling them communists (which is true).
I think you did not read the article.
Misleading title and lead-in.
“Relatives” consists ONLY of his cousin once removed. Mom’s cousin. How close could they be? They even ask questions like they don’t know what happened after the big threat last year. Not very close sounding. The other party interviewed is a family friend. They might know them better but don’t give much more insight.
The family is deflecting blame, but they are trying to say that the Covid hysteria changed the shooter’s personality, and he became mentally isolated and obsessed with Covid. Sounds like the whole family were Covid zealots: “They were all vaxed to the max.” Schoolmates joked that he should wear a full hazmat suit. Then he actually got Covid a few weeks ago (unfortunately, he survived). I think the cousins are mistaking effects for causation. Covid didn’t make him crazy; it provided his pre-existing paranoia a sickness/death obsession to latch onto. Next he latched onto racism, anti-Semitism, and “replacement theory”.
In your prior post, Gillibrand touches on this (yes, nuts do seek out and twist ideas in a negative direction), but her prescription is monstrous totalitarianism: withhold all information from the public so a sick mind can’t misuse it. Government hyped the Covid epidemic, and blew the fear way out of proportion to manipulate the public. Should they have withheld all information about it lest paranoids get out of hand?
How did he get the weapons? He should have been on a red flag list...his parents should have been watching him too.
...they had no clue their kin, accused 18-year-old Payton Gendron, was an alleged white supremacist...

Think about it, people. His family says he wasn’t a white supremacist. HellOoooo. He’s not a white supremacist. He’s a leftist who manufactured an online white supremacist persona for himself, and continued it in the crap he carried and wore in his attack. Now the mainstream media can say that a mean ol’ conservative white supremacist murdered a bunch of black people.
And that was the whole reason for his attack.
“The family is deflecting blame”
#42.
It’s NOT “the family”. It’s one of his cousins-once-removed. His mother’s cousin. Big deal. And a family friend.
What say the actual close family?
