Never the plan. Where do people come up with this shit? Plain and simple, Putin went in to stop the massacre of civilians over the last 8 years by Ukrainian nationalists in the Donbas DPR and LPR republics. That, and to give the message to Zelinsky not to pursue any further, Ukraine’s desire to join NATO.
Putin may have not gone into Ukraine at all if there had been a concerted effort at diplomacy to alleviate Russia’s fears of NATO’s expansion and to reinforce the Minsk accords to stop the slaughter of civilians in the Eastern Regions.
