Former President Trump warned Thursday that Republican Kathy Barnette, who is making an unexpectedly strong showing in polls, will lose the Senate race in Pennsylvania if she captures the GOP nomination.
Ms. Barnette, a 50-year-old conservative commentator and veteran, is receiving more attention in the closing days of the Senate primary battle, stealing the spotlight from her more well-known, and well-funded, rivals: celebrity physician Mehmet Oz, who has Mr. Trump’s endorsement, and businessman David McCormick.
“Kathy Barnette will never be able to win the General Election against the Radical Left Democrats,” Mr. Trump said in a statement. “Dr. Oz is the only one who will be able to easily defeat the Crazed, Lunatic Democrat in Pennsylvania. A vote for anyone else in the Primary is a vote against Victory in the Fall!” he said.
Ms. Barnette, who is Black, has come out of nowhere to seize headlines in the GOP nomination race.

The race to replace retiring Republican Sen. Pat Toomey is set to be decided Tuesday and will set the table for one of the most-watched, and most expensive, Senate races in the nation in the fall. On the Democratic side, Lt. Gov. John Fetterman is leading his rivals in polls.
Mr. Trump said Thursday that Ms. Barnette has political baggage that will drag her down, but said he would be happy to support her in the future.
“She has many things in her past which have not been properly explained or vetted, but if she is able to do so, she will have a wonderful future in the Republican Party—and I will be behind her all the way,” Mr. Trump said.

Exactly what things in the past did Barnette say that were problematic?
Also, doesn’t Dr. Oz have exactly the same problem Trump claims Barnette has?
I have to agree - Kathy can’t beat either Democrat.
Her loss in the Philly area is not a factor. No Repub wins in Philly.
I hope the Repubs come up with something very good and high-profile for Kathy in the future. She can be an asset.
This isn’t when Trump first jumped in and was at 10% or whatever. Trump had at this point with 6 days to go was way far away in the lead and extensively vetted.
The PA GOP has not been able to stop Dem cheating, particularly in Philly & Pittsburgh. Until/Unless the PA GOP figures out a way to end continued cheating, PA voters will continue being disenfranchised.

Good question. Kathy is being attacked by Republicans who think she isn’t good enough for them. I met Kathy many times & donated to her. She’s a good person. It’s sickening how vicious people like Hannity are. I’m voting for Kathy & told her so at the Tea Party meeting last week.
The fact is that the establishment does not like when regular people rise up and try to run for office.
They don’t like when people like you and me have the chance to actually make real change.

I heard that Pat Toomey (RINO-PA) is financing Kathy.
I wish someone would explain why Kathy would lose and Oz would win.
Is it her personality?
Is it his name recognition with PA voters?
Trump is extremely practical. He’ll back a lesser conservative if it means a win in the general. And that depends on the voter makeup. Oz may get a better percentage of the Philadelphia sewer than Kathy. Something like that.
