Influential Republicans in Washington and among the nationwide party elite are having a belated "oh s--t" moment over the previously unimaginable prospect that Kathy Barnette could win their party's nomination for the open Senate seat in Pennsylvania.
Why it matters: In Barnette, who's been soaring in the polls ahead of Tuesday's primary, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell would be dealing with a general election candidate who'd be an opposition researcher's dream — potentially endangering the GOP effort to take back the Senate.

So Kathy wins the primary and loses the actual election? Good plan.
she runs good ads professionally made with the money she has. O’Donnell had $10 million+ and made ads that looked like they were recorded in her basement and put together using Windows media player by an amateur...she could have hired the best media marketing company in the business to run her media campaign and she did not...Barnette I doubt will be running ads saying “I’m not a witch!” either.
Pennsylvania Ping!

FReepmail me to be added to the list.
No glory in winning if the Senate is full of Rino’s.
The Uniparty is in panic mode. They know that the people may not want any more of their BS.
“ What would that be? I’ll vote for her if she’s the nominee, but she’s got the weakest resume I’ve seen for a political candidate in years. ”
Exactly right.
She’s a great person but not ready for a Senate run. Watch her performance in the debates and you might see what I am saying.
This Axios article is exactly why discerning Freepers often don’t read entire articles that are linked. I read this whole thing. It was vapid. The headline WAS the article.
I want 5 minutes of my life back. (At my age, that’s not a negligible percentage.)
McConnell has done nothing to try and take the Senate majority. He slammed Trump and MAGA and offers no resistance to the Rats.
Time for a change.
Just the ones made of carpet.
She’s the real deal.
Like Trump the only people who hate her more than the Dems is the Repubs.
But even in those early Tweets she said she was conservative. They all say that.
Do your homework, people of Pa. It’s a lot worse than a couple tweets calling Trump names. After doing mine, I fully understand why Trump backed Oz. Look up her tweet history.
The same was said about one Donald Trump in 2015. Nice job being a defeatist. Glad I never played on a sports team with you.
Would you rather a "RINO" win a Senate seat and vote with R's 93% of the time or a D win the seat and vote with R's 0% of the time?
Could “Team Mitch” big ally be sent to the showers? I certainly hope so, for good. What a weasel/turtle..
Do any of them?
My BS filter is on. Yes, the GOP-e is having an "Oh Sheeeeet!" moment, and it will continue to happen. No, it does not endanger taking back the Senate.
Again, you assume she will lose as an argument for going with the RINO candidate who you then assume will win (or at least has a better chance of winning) This is a strawman argument which is why I noted the same was said about Donald Trump who was assumed to lose in the general election as an argument for folks to not vote for him in the primary. It is also why I am glad I never played team sports with you since you have a defeatist viewpoint and that is not dramatic. You assume the better candidate for us will lose while the worse candidate may not.
FYI, an 80 to 1 long shot just won the Kentucky derby.
By the way, I have a secret service friend who was so sure killery would win, he quit the presidential detail for a secret service job in North Carolina. Boy was he not happy when Trump won. Of course, he did his best to support Trump from North Carolina but could never get back to presidential detail and is now stuck in North Carolina.
