Kathy Barnette Attacked Trump in 2016 GOP Primary: ‘Horrid,’ ‘Very Little Substance,’ ‘Moral Character is Questionable’
Breitbart ^ | 11 May 2022 | MATTHEW BOYLE

Posted on 05/11/2022 12:53:32 PM PDT by conservative98

Pennsylvania Republican U.S. Senate candidate Kathy Barnette was not always in favor of now former President Donald Trump.

In a series of tweets and other comments during the 2016 GOP presidential primary, Barnette — who was a fan of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) — repeatedly ripped into Trump.

After a debate in September 2015, for instance, Barnette said Trump “was horrid.”

She also said in another September 26, 2015, tweet that Trump would be “good 4 beers & barbecue.”

“BUT, not as President,” Barnette said of Trump, adding that “WE r so morally bankrupt” for even considering Trump.

Barnette also that day, while Barack Obama was still the president, called Trump “JUST AS LIBERAL” as the “leaders we currently [have in] office.”

She also said in another tweet that while she likes Trump, “he’s nothing more than HEADLINES” and with Trump there is “very little substance.”

She said too that Trump’s “moral character is questionable” and that he is “braggadocious.”

When Dr. Ben Carson endorsed Trump in March 2016, Barnette tweeted that “there is a real disconnect, for me” in Carson endorsing Trump over Cruz.

As of the publication of this article, Barnette still has all these tweets published on her Twitter feed.

In her book, published in February 2020, Barnette even says Trump was last on her list of choices in the 2016 GOP primary — meaning that she liked former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, and former Ohio Gov. John Kasich more.

I dropped Cruz for Trump because Trump made perfect sense to me. Follow in a close second by Cruz running the voter shaming campaign in Iowa. Followed again by Glenn Beck swearing him in mock.

Trump, he didn’t tweet enough for me. But then again, I’m not a pussy like those other tools “on our side”.

We can find videos of Trump supporting amnesty, abortion, partial-birth abortion, articles attacking Romney for being too tough on immigration and blaming his loss for it, supporting John Kerry for President, supporting Nancy Pelosi, and the list can go on and on. That’s what made Kathy Barnette and many other people very skeptical of Trump during that primary. We were told his previous comments didn’t matter an time would prove he had changed. Her skepticism was warranted - but certainly if Trump’s past comments didn’t matter then then Barnett’s skepticism from prior to him being President most certainly doesn’t matter now.

Refined never-trumper here. Held my nose in 2016 - thought he was a Democrat plant. I have never been so wrong and have repented. Donated my time (and money) as an attorney for two weeks after 2020 election taking witness statements of fraud in PA. It is possible to go from a never trumper to Ultra Maga!

LOL. When Trump first got in the race, I thought he was a liberal in disguse who was on an ego trip by running. He was not my first choice. But he grew on my and now I’m a fan. Maybe she made the same journey.

I will.

But that is not what he was saying as a Reform Party candidate (at least I think it was as a Reform Party candidate).

Not so fast. That’s pretty much the same way I thought of Trump in 2015. Me too and i knew about him read his book and followed alot of what he did as an investor. He tried to oust that woman from here house in AC for years so he could put up a parking lot. But the biggest was the Guy he got fired from Janney Montgomery Scott who was a casino analyst that stated Trump was going to default on his bond payments. Well he didn’t really default but he renegotiated the crap out of the payments. and the guy was right.

I have never seen so much political flak over a target in one day.

The GOPe must be getting some serious internal numbers for them to all be flinging mud.

I’m not going to try to change anyone’s mind about who to vote for May 17th.

But I’m going to vote for Barnette unless something serious (not this) comes up.

Club for Growth should re-name themselves Club for RINO. Obviously if TRump backs one candidate, the NWO deep state CFG will back the other..>>> It not like they are contributing to her campaign. They are just running supportinve ads. Good she needs the exposure. If the dems want to run pro kathy ads that’s good too. she is a good conservative candidate.

She was right. Trump has the morals of a alley cat and skin thinner than a condom

Keep 'em comin'. I always enjoy a good car wreck, no matter who walks away.

Washington is a cesspool of corruption. They also stole the 2020 election in broad daylight.

BTW, 99 out of 100 politicians are frauds.

The trick is to choose the one who is least harmful to our way of life.
That is assuming the election isn’t rig in the first place.
