Kathy Barnette is neck-and-neck with Oz and McCormick in the Pa. Senate race, poll says

PHILADELPHIA — Maybe money really can’t buy everything.

Pennsylvania Republican Senate candidate Kathy Barnette now appears to be running neck-and-neck with the two big-spending front-runners, Mehmet Oz and David McCormick, just days before the May 17 primary, according to a new poll.

Barnette, a conservative commentator who has run a tireless campaign on a shoestring budget, had the support of 23.2% of likely GOP voters in the survey released late Sunday by the Republican Trafalgar Group. That put her right alongside Oz (24.5%) and McCormick (21.6%). Factoring in a margin of error of 3 percentage points, the poll suggests the candidates are effectively tied.

The results are similar to a Trafalgar poll in April, adding to the evidence that Barnette has emerged as the likely alternative to her ultrawealthy rivals Oz and McCormick. Despite each of them spending more than $11 million apiece from their own pockets, neither has been able to run away with the race.

Montgomery County developer Jeff Bartos was a distant fourth in the poll at 7.2%, while Carla Sands, the former ambassador to Denmark, had 6.5% support.

Barnette, with a personal story about rising from poverty after growing up on a pig farm in Alabama, has crisscrossed the state in her campaign, rising in the polls despite spending only about $1.6 million. She would be the first woman and the first Black person elected to the Senate from Pennsylvania.

***

The Senate poll surveyed 1,080 likely Republican voters from Friday to Sunday.

Polls are unreliable.

FWIW, I suggest Bartos, a good guy, withdraw from the race and throw his support to Barnette.

I’m voting for Barnette, like many other FR PA people.

“FWIW, I suggest Bartos, a good guy, withdraw from the race and throw his support to Barnette.”

That would be good. I don’t trust OZ at all. Trump endorsed him because they are friends.

I’m on the other side of the country, but it seems she’s the best choice.

Free men make their own decisions.
They don’t do as they’re told by other men.

From what people have said, it does sound like she’s the
best. That yard stick is very brittle though.

Oh come on. Endorsements serve a purpose.

Go with who you want, but there’s nothing wrong with an
endorsement. We probably don’t agree with this one. That’s
okay.

That’s a fact.

Yep, Kathy Barnette looks like the BEST choice. Sorry Dr. Oz, we don’t judge people for what they SAY, but what they have DONE. Deeds.. Not words, was what Chuck Colson always said to look for.

Barnette is most likely to lose the general.

Kathy Barnette is not the supporter Trump asked for, but she is the supporter that Trump needs. Voting for Doc Oz is just giving another Mitt Romney a clear shot at Trump's back.

She presents herself as an articulate candidate. Her interview on FOX this AM was a deciding factor.

Yes I SERIOUSLY make reference to Chuck Colson, the Hatchet Man of Richard Nixon, the felon, President of Prison Fellowship who saw the underbelly of politics. HE said, people need to look at the RECORD, and history of a person. Anyone can make promises, and swing over voters with hyperbolic ideas of utopia. Track records should be looked at when we vote for people. Not the ‘tag’ they wore. MANY thousands voted for the SOUTHERN BAPTIST EVANGELICAL, who ended up promoting the Equal Rights Amendment and Abortion on demand. He let MANY of us down.

Barnette is most likely to lose the general.

If that is so, and I am not convinced it is, looking back I would have preferred Mike Kennedy beat Mitt Romney in the primary and lose in the general than to have allowed Mitt Romney to stab Trump in the back when he needed the support. Our party doesn't need more traitors in the trenches with us.
