Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) said he was just "acting foolish, and joking" with "a friend" in response to a video he characterized as the latest hit piece meant to destroy his political career.
The 26-year-old congressman, who has been ensnared in a string of controversies in recent weeks, released a statement Wednesday appearing to confirm the authenticity of a short clip showing him naked in bed atop another man, getting physical and making noises.

Madison Cawthorn is the Beto O'Rourke of military vets. People assume that Cawthorn is a vet because of the wheelchair and haircut, just like others assume that Beto is Hispanic. But neither is actually true.
Cawthorn ended up in the wheelchair because of a car accident that happened when he was 18, returning from a spring break trip. Never served a day in the military, though I think he is perfectly fine with voters making that assumption.
Having looked at the 12-second clip, 1) it doesn’t look like the other guy asked permission, 2) although my vision is somewhat impaired, it looked like a half-hearted motion lacking any contact, and 3) it looked like they were making a joke.
The other 30-second video is more disturbing, raising more serious questions. In isolation, the 12-second clip is just stupid kids horsing around.
Maybe people want him to lose because he’s a creep, a phony, and liar. Just spitballin....

He lost his leg in a motorcycle accident, has never served, and won’t tell ya the truth unless you ask!
Me thinks as a politician he was never ready, and likely wrong in more than one way. How did he get the R next to his name???

It’s been a LONG process, but making “a thing” of being naked around other men has been ginned up as taboo beginning sometime in the 1950’s. As late as the 1980’s Middle Schools and High Schools had communal showers and locker rooms for P.E. and they were used; you were naked daily changing into and out of your P.E. uniform, and rinsing off in the shower so you didn’t stink for the rest of the day.
IT WASN’T “A THING”; NOBODY made a deal about it except occasionally in jest, and there was never much of that because people only had ten minutes to get through and get their ass to their next class.
In the 1990’s I was a member of a gym, and guys were in the showers after their workouts all the time; everyone was respectful, got on with their own business, and any conversation was light, and incidental, or maybe two guys continuing on a subject they’d been discussing while working out.
This idea that guys are gay or weird ‘cuz they were naked around other men — that in and of itself is a f@#$%@d up notion, and a damning commentary about our deepening social rot. And, as always, who is it that’s leading the messaging; who is it that’s dropping the thoughts into the stream of public conversation? Who but our ever-present rot-promoters in the leftmedia?
He’s like John Belushi with his 1,001 excuses at the end of “The Blues Brothers.” The lies he has gotten caught in, the accusations of being a sex pest at college, the short marriage, the lingerie pictures, the sexual horsing around with men, the stops for driving violations, the gun in the Charlotte airport - IT’S NOT HIS FAULT!!!
Cawthorn said the was no election fraud.
He has to go for that alone.
I remember the locker room after phys ed. I went to a high school known for its athletic programs. I wasn’t an athlete, but the school was filled with them. Young athletic men are often pumped up after working out, and there’s a lot of spillover behavior in the locker room afterward.
The Military thing was him being nominated for the Academy, the word is he wouldn’t have been accepted. These things are easily lied about, being he was injured before he had a chance to accept a nomination, or it being proffered.
If he was in my district, I would vote for him over a RINO or a Dim. In my opinion, the firepower with which they are going after him proves that he is the right man right time. The blackmail was most assuredly brought to him, and he was told to play the game of being a Mitch McConnell or SC Roberts. He told them to pound sand obviously.
If he were a Dim, everything that happened with the video and the stories about “going to be in the military” would disappear, and being bi would enhance his standing. I don’t like him, I don’t trust him, but he has the RIGHT ENEMIES.
Sorry Madison but being naked in bed with another guy and doing homo pretend stuff is not goofing around. It’s homo! You’re done, son.
