The special grand jury that will help investigate former President Donald Trump for possibly criminal meddling in Georgia’s 2020 presidential election was seated Monday after a selection process that took less than 90 minutes.
The probe employing the grand jury, seated in Atlanta, likely represents the biggest threat of criminal prosecution that Trump currently faces.
While still president, and waiting for Congress to confirm President Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory, Trump in a Jan. 2, 2021, phone call urged Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to “find” him enough votes to overturn Biden’s victory in that state.
That call, and contacts other people made with the state’s attorney general and a top federal prosecutor in Georgia, are being eyed in the criminal investigation. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is overseeing the probe.
Grand jury selection began Monday morning in the Fulton County Courthouse in downtown Atlanta.
A total of 200 potential grand jurors were summoned for the selection process. Out of that group, 23 jurors and three alternates were quickly picked for the panel, which can meet for up to one year.
The grand jury, which will have the power to subpoena testimony from witnesses and to obtain evidence, will not start taking testimony until next month. The lag will give jurors time to arrange their schedules and to wait until the May 24 primary in the state, where Raffensperger and other potential witnesses are on the ballot.

and what will they be doing with the info they find that there was cheating going on ???
The Media-Dem Party is scared as hell, and they want to knock him off the ballot.
The Dems stole that election fair and square, and anyone thinking otherwise will be punished.
isn’t Georgia where they found all those trump votes after the election was declared?
I am sure the grand jury will be shown unbiased evidence. /sarc
From what I have seen and heard, the Georgia GOP is a criminal enterprise.
Another utter lie by CNBC and others. With all the video and cell-tracking evidence from True the Vote and D’Sousa’s 2,000 Mules, this trial (if it gets that far) could actually enable a public accounting of Georgia’s massive fraud.
But no grand jury on the mules stuffing the drop boxes......
The ENTIRE GA GOP top tier, Gov, Lt Gov, AG and SOS were all in on the Big Steal.
Yawn. This is going nowhere.
Even if the DA did a stunt indictment for the election to help Dems, it’s not going to stick.
Effing hilarious.
THIS is the ‘election meddling’ they choose to investigate.
I hate these people.
How does a lowly county DA get to form a Grand Jury to investigate a President for acts done while in office? What a messed up world. I guess we will have to investigate Biden in some remote village court in Alaska to get even.
they are investigating Trump’s phone call. The actual cheating will not be part of the scope.
Another grand jury hearing that will come to nothing.
“investigate former President Donald Trump for possibly criminal meddling in Georgia’s 2020 presidential election”
When are they going to investigate those who really meddled?
First witness - Ruby Freeman.
Trump should enter into evidence a copy of 20000 Mules.
This was leaked settlement talks with the SoS office and Trump and his legal team. The leaked audio, in context, Trump was arguing the numbers he is being told far exceeded the margin and he only needed to “find” enough to make up the margin. He wanted these fraud claims and irregularities investigated to “find” those votes.
When Democrats claim cheating by making up a Russian hoax, they get a special counsel and FBI investigations for 3 years.
When a Republican merely questions an election, it’s called “meddling” and he gets his ass investigated off.
I suggest day #1 of the grand jury is spent with them screening 2000 mules.
