Birx: With Pence Approval I Went to Local Media to Contradict Trump on COVID

Former White House coronavirus response task force coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx said on MSNBC’s “Katy Tur Reports” that during the early days of the COVID pandemic, with the approval of then-Vice President Mike Pence, she went to local media all across America to say the exact opposite of the information citizens were getting from then-President Donald Trump.

Tur said, “What about when it became clear to you that he was dangerous, that he was saying to people inject bleach into your arms to clear out the virus. He said he was joking, but that’s not the way the American public takes him. The CDC had poison hotlines.”

If anyone thought they heard a recommendation for injecting bleach, they weren’t paying attention.

I watched that particular press conference live, and it pisses me off that President Trump's enemies are still running with that lie.  IIRC, what he asked was if there was a substance that could be taken internally that would work in a similar fashion to the way a disinfectant works on a surface (or words to that effect).

Then a press propagandist asked in an incredulous way if the President was calling for the injection of Lysol (I think the word he used was Lysol and not bleach).  I remember turning to my wife and asking, "Did he just ask if Trump was advocating for the injection of Lysol?"  And the rest, as they say, is history.

Trump was suggesting an out of the box treatment against the virus like a disinfectant. Trump is not a microbiologist nor a medical professional such as an M.D. or veterinarian. If Birx and Fauci had not been biased they would have explained to the public that many early treatments for disease were such. The first treatment against syphilis was arsenic. Who would have thought arsenic injected IV would treat syphilis? How about drugs taken orally that become formaldehyde? That's weird but that is just what methenamine is...once taken orally it becomes formaldehyde in the bladder and is a urinary antiseptic that kills many UTI infections. Nitrofurantoin is another that works the same way, its not an antibiotic and changes to treat UTI’s. If Fauci and Birx had been honest they'd explained that what Trump was suggesting had been done against disease before. Instead they threw him under the bus claiming him ignorant and dangerous. Birx and Fauci are either ignorant or cunningly dishonest. There has been so much mishandling of this epidemic by these two they should lose their licenses and be fined significantly for malpractice. IMO the actions of the CDC and NIH is sickening. I honestly believe a simple practicing veterinarian could have orchestrated a better solution for this epidemic. After all, the Barrington Group made recommendations that would have been correct yet they were vilified by Fauci and Birx.

Did Trump say anything wrong on the topic? I thought
he had been pretty well cleared on every comment he
made. He was certainly right by a very large majority
of the things he said.

His rush to get a vaccine going was well intentioned,
but at some point it became a real problem as the end
product was rolled out and demanded to be taken.

Actually, the treatment Trump referenced was blue light which kills microbes but does not damage human tissue.

My God preserve your friend and keep him safe-my best friend-who is also my employer-and a naturalist like me-was told by a doc that he should take blood thinners, cholesterol reducers, etc because he is over 65-he told the doc if it ain’t broke, he isn’t into trying to fix it, and never went back there. He asked me if I had an extra bottle of the workout supplement I use- L-Arginine and Citrulline so he could try it-it worked great for his PB and energy level-much better than rat poison or statin drugs...

Pharma and docs love to give people those drugs for the rest of their lives$$$$$, never mind that drugs build up in the body and can cause hell to happen-I think that is what is happening with those Wuhan virus “vaccines”...

I only trust me when it comes to my body-no drugs, no way...
