One looming question is how DeWine will do in his gubernatorial primary contest with former U.S. Rep. Jim Renacci, of Wadsworth, former state Rep. Ron Hood, of Pickaway County’s Ashville, and Joe Blystone, a Canal Winchester farmer.
It’s hard to imagine Republicans would deny Mike DeWine re-nomination. The last time primary voters denied an Ohio governor re-nomination was in 1938, when Democrats refused to nominate Gov. Martin L. Davey, of Kent, for a third term. And Davey – politically speaking – was a wild man.
Still, a significant anti-DeWine vote from among Republicans could boost whichever Democratic candidate for governor – Cincinnati’s John Cranley, or Dayton’s Nan Whaley – wins that party’s nomination.

Mike DeWine is a SWAMPER!!
I’m not sure if he will be reelected, but I bought a new bag of exclamation points just in case he is!!
I think he is a squish, but he's not a flaming liberal and so far has pretty much stayed on the right side.
I've not read any articles calling for his demise.
Blystone is the only candidate that is not a political Swamp ass.
Didn’t President Trump just endorse Vance?
Yes, for Senate. I don’t think he has endorsed a Governor candidate.
DeWine surpised me recently by signing a Constitutional carry law. He must be feeling the threat during election year.
The primary is May 3rd.
DeWine will win the Primary by about 12 points, and will be re-elected in November.
DeWiner lied after the last election and said he would not run again. Then two years into his term, DeWiner changed his mind and announced he would run for re-election.
He is an old rich guy with nothing else to do - DeWiner needs to retire.
He won’t get my vote. I’ll stay at home before I will support that lock down pushing POS.
What do the Ohio FReepers say? From what I understand DeWine is not popular.
“DeWine surpised me recently by signing a Constitutional carry law.”
He did? Good for him! And good for Ohio. He must have been reading the polls, which were not that great for him.
As someone who has lived in Ohio for most of my life, DeWine is your run-of-the-mill, pansy-ass Ohio RINO. Unfortunately, RINOs are an all too common breed in Ohio(e.g. Kasich, Herr Portman, Mike Turner). Jim Jordan is one of the few of the the good GOP in this state. Renacci would be a welcome improvement over Dewine.
I’m in Western PA but have friends and relatives in Eastern Ohio — they don’t hate DeWine however they acknowledge he is a squish and deplore how poorly he handled the plandemic panic (ceding authority to a liberal nutzoid); they’re voting for Renacci in the primary even though he’s not a particularly inspirational MAGA type either.
DeWine’s going to win easily in May and probably even more easily in November against the Democrat non-entities.
I’m a Precinct Committeemen in Cuyahoga County, (Cleveland), and the Central and Executive Committees met some weeks back. The Executive Committee recommended endorsing DeWine in the 2022 election. DeWine was present at the meeting.
A motion was made, and seconded to remove DeWine’s name as the endorsed candidate and to replace it with Renacci. After some ululating in the crowd a secret ballot was cast and DeWine was in fact removed as the endorsed candidate.
I will be supporting Renacci in this week’s primary.
He left the venue very quickly….
“DeWine surpised me recently by signing a Constitutional carry law.”
He waited until the last day possible to sign it….
“ Didn’t President Trump just endorse Vance?”
That is a senate seat where Trump endorsed Vance.
Lol...good for you,
