DALLAS (AP) — Airlines say they are offering options — including refunds in some cases — for people worried about flying now that other passengers aren’t required to wear face masks.
However, the airlines aren’t providing many details. Customers could find themselves at the mercy of workers at airline customer-service centers.
Many people who will be flying in the next few weeks bought their tickets before a federal judge in Florida on Monday struck down the requirement to wear a mask in airports and during flights. That requirement, designed to limit the spread of COVID-19, was due to expire anyway on May 3.
United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby said his airline will be flexible with people who have a weak immune system or are concerned about mask-optional flying for any other reason.
“We are working with those customers ... to find another option, give them a credit, or if they just don’t ever want to fly again, (we are) actually willing to give them a refund,” Kirby told NBC.
American Airlines CEO Robert Isom said Thursday that the airline hasn’t fielded many refund requests yet.
A Delta Air Lines spokesman said customers who wish to cancel a trip should contact the airline. Decisions about how to handle those requests are made on a case-by-case basis, he said.
Southwest, Alaska, JetBlue, Spirit and Frontier did not reply to inquiries.

Can’t believe I wrote plain...instead of plane....LOL
They love having powers over others.
No problem. Follow the procedure taught to my son at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) for entering a potentially hazardous environment. Enter the airport with a box of new N95 masks. Follow the three-step procedure to ensure a proper seal and after one half hour of exposure to all these nasty people without masks put on a new one. This is a lot more inexpensive than hiring a shrink to explain in a nice way that you are really that stupid.
By the way, my son was also taught that other masks were only effective against things the size of water droplets.
Ha ha. Was she from NY, LA or Miami, by chance?
While my cruise tomorrow on Mariner of the Seas ship just announced than masks are NO LONGER MANDATORY for vaxxed passengers.
Their old refrain used to be: Your mask protects me, my mask protects you.
I was like.....well, then clearly you are wearing your mask inside out. Fix that and I won’t have to wear one. Bye now.
This country has become a pathetic nation of fools.
If your mask doesn’t work to protect you, my mask won’t either.
And did they address the damage caused by decreased oxygen levels and the concentration of pathogens within one’s own breath, along with other detrimental effects?
No idea......gave her a VERY WIDE BERTH! WHACKO!
The idea was that you were going to sneeze on me....but my mask would keep any spray away.
Well, if you sneeze...and you have a mask on...guess who gets the blast.
What a bunch of a**es.
Just a wild guess on my part.
Bet there won’t be that many callers.
Who wants to advertise that they flunked basic science.
Wear a mask on the plane if u feel uncomfortable.
You just have to play with these people.
Once we were in a restaurant. It was hot so took off my jacket exposing my shoulder holster. A little old lady in the next booth commented she had never set near a guy with a gun before. I just looked at her and said it was OK since I had taken my pills today.
That wasn’t an idea.
It is a canard.
Using to mask to prevent the person-to-person transmission of an airborne respiratory virus is like using chicken wire to keep out mosquitos.
Anyone who thinks those damn muzzles provide protection against the coof needs a refresher in basic science.
If both people are properly wearing medical respirators it is a lower chance of transmission than if one is wearing it.
Of course the cheap cloths that don’t completely seal do nothing and there arent enough certified masks to go around.

‘I still look in amazement at people wearing them snugly over their noses all day with no complaint. Boggles.’
no mystery about it; these idiotic pieces of cloth make them feel like saints...
How about all the NORMALS who are afraid to be seen with the weirdos wearing masks? Shouldn’t they get some protection, too?
