Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is fighting to fend off a pro-Trump challenger to Sen. Lisa Murkowski, flooding airwaves with ads defending the Alaska Republican’s record.
The Senate Leadership Fund, the super PAC associated with Mr. McConnell, said Monday that it booked more than $7 million worth of ad time in Alaska to boost Ms. Murkowski.
“It’s important for Lisa to be reelected. She’s one of the few … moderates in the middle of the Senate,” Mr. McConnell told Axios this week.
The GOP leader added that Ms. Murkowski had been a “key player” to advance bipartisan legislation and that he would do everything in his power to ensure her success in November.
Ms. Murkowski, 64, is fending off a primary challenge from Kelly Tshibaka, who received the endorsement of former President Donald Trump.

McConnell delivers the pork!
Kentuckians like WV’ians like their pork and government cheese! That makes politicos in those environments hard to dislodge.
You can bet your booties that since they have no candidate, the Dems will vote for her hot and heavy.
McConnell is the head stink in the Republican DC swamp. I believe his only interest is maintaining the power of Congre$$.
Republicans have got to get rid of McConnell.
Proof positive that there is ONE party in DC.
If the Republican leadership truly sought to advance the agendas they run on, they would work to vote her out, as she is generally one of the group that bails every time any degree of victory is within our grasp.
Instead, the old turtle just shakes his head sadly, and tells the voters that they were so close, but will keep trying.
Spit.
Now why isn’t he just saying that we can’t be backing people that can’t get elected.
Does anyone know what her numbers look like ...seems they were pretty bad!!!
You removed the context; the endorsement was specifically against McGrath. And later on, Trump made a point of saying that McConnell would not have won without that endorsement.
Exactly
I’m not saying Murkowski shouldn’t be primaried and soundly defeated, but I will say that in a 50-50 senate with dems desperately looking for any way of advancing their agenda at any cost, a bitter and unwanted Murkowski on her way out of office with nothing to lose can be incredibly dangerous. Would she trade votes on HR1 (nationalizing elections to ensure dems win) and whatever budget busting spending the dems want in exchange for say... a cabinet position as Secretary of Energy or something like that? Absolutely she would.
There is no such thing as a primary, in the conventional sense of the word, in Alaska anymore thanks to Rigged Choice Voting. Murkowski is *guaranteed* to be on the November ballot unless she dies prior to that time.
Then, in the much-less-than-likely chance she is defeated, she and the rest of her fellow Democrats will only have from November through the end of the session to get their legislation passed. That's more than enough of course, but not as much as if she were defeated in the August "primary".
I don't know how corrupt Murk is....but I know NcC is up to his ears CORRUPT!!!!!
SHEEEEETTTT they are all dog sheet.
She voted to confirm KBJ. That ought to be all one needs to know.
If it was a close race, no way would she have cast that vote.
Exactly
Voting for RINOs is worse than voting for the Demonrats because RINOs are the enemies inside the gate ready to stab you in the back.
16 years this guy has been Senate leader. Nobody needs to serve that long unless they’re indispensable. McConnell has been anywhere from subpar to terrible. That he needs a contingent of destructive left-wing RINOs to support his leadership role shows he needs to be deposed ASAFP.
