The California state task force on reparations for Black residents voted on March 22 to limit eligibility to individuals whose lineage could be traced to enslavement in America. While this first-in-the-nation task force hotly debated the issue, more important is that it was impaneled by Gov. Gavin Newsome to study and develop reparation proposals. While many look toward California, awaiting its findings and conclusions, Gov. Jay Inslee, who’s been out in front on many issues of racial equity, should not wait. He should impanel a similar reparations task force, with similar objectives in Washington state.

Those ancestors were felons. Do you want to serve their terms?
“California and Washington were not slave states. Why are they discussing reparations?”
Because they are woketards who are scared half to death of blacks, and think blacks will forgive them for their white privilege if given money. They also believe beyond all doubt that blacks are incapable of fending for themselves without the help of their liberal white saviors.
Give them 10 years where they do not and can not participate in federal taxes - sounds fair to me. The rest of Americans will just have to deal with the repercussions of their being prohibited from participating in federal taxes for 10 years. Oh, I’m sure we’ll be able to pull through. Then this will all be behind us.
So they can figure out how to get their grubby little paws on all that dough...................I remember one Democrat saying it doesn't matter, we'll have it all back inside of six months..............
“No white man alive in America today ever owned a slave and no black man alive in America today ever picked cotton.”
**************
Well, I’m a white man and I’ve picked cotton. And, I’ve pulled bolls as well. Even had my own little bag. But, I doubt there’s many of us left. I’m 78 yrs old and my grandparents had a small farm. And, my mom and I lived on it while my dad was fighting in that Kor’ean War. Anyway, during the early 50’s lots of small farmers still hand picked their cotton. Neighbors will pool their labor and help each other come picking time. But anyway, thinking I’m due some reparations too, lol 😂…
The sins of the father shall not be visited on the son.
My grandfather was a sharecropper in Mississippi.
He eventually came to own 77+ acres of prime bottom land.
There is no excuse for ‘reparations’. It is simply another Democrat money grab, using poor blacks as their pawns..............
Reginald Denny suffered a fractured skull and impairment of his speech and his ability to walk, for which he underwent years of rehabilitative therapy. After unsuccessfully suing the City of Los Angeles, Denny moved to Arizona, where he worked as an independent boat mechanic and has mostly avoided media contact.
Should there be reparations for victims of affirmative action? There are lots of people alive who could make claims.
> It would be the biggest shakedown in history.
Until next time.
Family and corporate wealth predicated on actual slave ownership historically proven might be able to argue for who owes, but not all owe generally. My grandparents all came through Ellis island circa 1900 and as such were not owners of slaves anywhere in the world.
The latest political noise is merely the Democrats yet again using race as a tool in their continuing lust for relative power and wealth. But it is amusing, as now the Democrats will require documented historical lineage back to an actual slave for payments, thereby angering those who think they deserve reparations "just because."
An anecdote as example. A neighbor gal decades back in southern California spoke about her African heritage wistfully, and I found a local language class to offer, and said I would also enroll for the fun of it. She declined, and went on to complain of the then "discrimination" about church going on Sundays, which was in the papers at that time. I again offered to go to a local AME church with here only to learn she preferred to go to her Episcopal church. Sometimes, I concluded, people just like to complain.
Sometime later she asked if I would go with her to a night school Spanish class as the school district was paying a bonus to Spanish-speaking teachers.
Fast forward, I worked around the world, learned a number of languages, and caught up with her at the end of her life. She hadn't learned Swahili or Spanish. But she got along fine anyway. And din't need reparations. Left her heir a million dollar house.
is part of the calculations deducting the price of freedom? cause i think that would make the debt paid in full.
I am telling you white guys (and gals), this could be the dumbest piece of domestic legislation you could ever signed on to.
Go ahead - set the precedent. Then wait until the natives (and the ‘first nations’ as they’re called in Canada) jump on board. That should just about clean out the treasury.
Then the displaced Latinos after the Mexican war.
Then the Hawaiian natives.
Oh, did I mentioned the ‘Indentured Servants’ - most of whom were white?
You really wanna go here, people?
They deserve the reparations, do they not?
Rejoice. Unless the cretins running California can figure out a way to restrict the payers of these reparations to people of European heritage only I can’t think of a faster way to turn CA’s voting majority against the Marxist dog squeeze in Sacramento.
Gavin Nobrain is just expanding his power base. If he wants reparations, pass a new tax law that gathers the most tax money for that from rich millionaires like him.
“individuals whose lineage could be traced to enslavement in America”
Based on what? As someone who has been involved in genealogy for 40 years I can say that the development of specific ancestries are not exact sciences. Even information on birth and death certificates can be wrong. It will be difficult to definitely prove someone is a descendent of a slave.
Thus there will be no shortage of phony claims that someone is a slave descendent.
They feel really, really bad?
Can’t the Democrats just cut to the chase and put all of their base voters on Federal salaries? :)
