Awhite nationalist displayed a toddler-like tantrum on his conservative show because he didn’t want to see Black people at the Country Music Awards. Patrick Howley, the right-wing reporter, first proved his ignorance when he failed to recognize the host of the show, Anthony Mackie.
“I don’t know who this Black guy is who’s hosting it. It’s supposed to be country music,” the bitter white man said as he showed a clip of the award show to his viewers. “No offense. Y’all have hip hop, basketball. Just fly with your flock, bro.”.....
“There were so many Black people there,” he said. “Sorry to say, but so many Black celebrities who have nothing to do with country music and it’s like— why?”
In typical racist behavior, the talking head tried to prove that he likes some Black people.
“No disrespect to the funky brothers,” he said. “I love Earth Wind and Fire, Run DMC, etc. But country music’s different. Country music’s different. It’s not Wakanda.”

Watched the show. It wasn’t the number of Blacks at the show, it was the general tone of the show. Very hip hop, other than the awards themselves it was very oriented towards, shall we say, not traditional country music fans. The two hosts were Black/biracial, probably half the presenters were Black and honestly it was disjointed and almost unwatchable. I don’t remember there being any traditional country artist on stage, but there were a lot of black non-music people giving awards. My wife and I watch the CMA and ACM awards every year and this one was just poorly done. It looked cobbled together. It was kind of a “some of my best friends are Black” moment in what is historically a Whites dominated musical genre. Even a number of the black presenters read obviously pre-prepared, not terribly convincing statements, about how they grew up listening to and loving country music. They tried too hard to incorporate blackness into the program and it didn’t work.
While a lot of the new young artists are pretty good and returning more to a “country” sound after the Taylor Swift years, those that run the industry are all very woke. Wouldn’t be surprised to see next year be a trans themed show, if that’s still a thing. My wife who is pretty apolitical even said, ‘Are they trying to take our music away from us too?’
Have no idea who this guy is, but it’s pretty clear he hasn’t followed country music for the last few decades if he thinks it’s white only…
You can call it a lot of things, hick hop, rocka billy, cow punk/country punk, whatever... But Country Music" it ain't.. :(
They are trying to do to “country music” what has been done to much of everything else - let blacks and/or leftists take it over and destroy it.

“Awhite nationalist”, “Black, Black, Black, Black, Black”
No agenda here, nope!
Put the O back into country music
I don’t watch the Country Music Awards because I don’t believe in celebrity award shows, but wokeism has invaded the country music scene these last few years.
Wife and I made a show. He was great. Still have some 8 tracks and vinyl of him.
Thank you for that post. People are sick of having blackness and trans/LGBTQ crammed into everything.
For a long time, I didn’t know Charlie Pride was black.
Yonder comes a truck with the US mail
People writin’ letters back home
Tomorrow she’ll probably want me back
But I’ll soon be just as gone
Coulda been Ronnie Milsap or many other country singers. The song is authentic.
For a comparison, think about Otis Redding’s Sittin’ on the dock of the bay. Sittin’ hit No. 1 on the pop chart and on the R&B chart.
Sittin’ tells of a country boy’s frustration in the big city, but it was not considered a country song. Why? I think it’s because Otis Redding, unlike Charlie Pride, didn’t play the country circuit.
Maybe if Otis Redding didn’t die in a plane crash shortly after cutting the song, he might have played the country circuit, as Ray Charles did, and become a cross-over artist.
Well, times are different. The artificial divide separating country boys has been lifted. Nowadays, it’s urban music and country music. The difference is culture or a way of life, not color.
Years later Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings hit the country charts with their version of the song, and were nominated for a grammy for best country duo or group (losing to Alabama).

Precisely.
I still sing his songs. My wife gets tickled to death when I sing "Kiss an Angel good morning."
Somebody’s opinion ruffles feathers?
Who cares?
Why don’t we talk about black on white crime?
That would be…inconvenient.
And this is what I think is happening, not just in that industry, but all across every industry in the country.
All that propaganda from 2020 has been having this effect.
Aaron Neville ... somebody once said of him, he sang so beautifully, it could cure cancer.

Nice version. Thanks. Always liked Waylon Jenning’s voice.
It always is...
.
A lot of C&W sounds like cracker rap these days. Seems the younger performers and listeners think Country sounds better with a ghetto beat.
