DENVER (KDVR) — The Colorado Board of Education heard comments from the public Wednesday surrounding the possibility of excluding LGBTQ references in the social studies curriculum until fourth grade.
After thousands of people offered feedback, a committee made the recommendation to the board.

WHY is this even part of the 'curriculum?
Putting your kid in “public school” means you’re willing to participate in the socialist project of removing the right from parents to say what happens to their kids. Who’s to blame? Look in the mirror.
Newsflash: ya don't have to be gay to feel alone or weak at times in your younger years. It's called being a kid.
How about NO ‘gender identity’ BS
I think it was Neal Boortz who always insisted on calling them 'Government schools', not 'Public schools'.
“public school”
*************
Its not really ‘school’. If it was such things as critical thinking, problem solving, understanding the lessons of history and the development of useful skills would be taught. Instead ‘school’ has become synonymous with indoctrination.
I was never taught heterosexual topics 9n elementary or middle school and it didn’t effect me at all.
Neal definitely did/does that. I listened to Boortz a lot way back before he was syndicated.
“The speakers said references to LGBTQ people in social studies are not about sex.”
Then you don’t need to specify that they are “LGBTQ people”, since that tells us nothing about them except their sexual proclivities.
You want to go teach kids in music class about the musical merits of Liberace? Be my guest. You want to teach them about what Liberace was doing in his penthouse after the show, then we are going to have a problem.
Way back in the day public schools were pretty good in my community. Solid emphasis on building useful knowledge and skills, an expectation of doing assigned work, getting exposure to civics and related studies to equip one to become a functioning citizen, healthy socialization activities, and learning to accept consequences for one’s actions — or lack thereof.
I believe that most students back then, even the marginal one’s, were much better educated and prepared to become responsible adults than today’s coddled and confused snowflakes are.
In many respects a high school grad in those days was better educated than college grads are today IMO.

You’ve said it! A lot of kids feel like an odd ball. It is called being a kid. I never grew out of that feeling that I’m not like everyone else. The good thing is that I learned at some point that my individuality was a positive, and that everybody was different in some way. We aren’t supposed to be cookie cutter representations of each other. God made each of us different from one another. Even identical twins are slightly different from each other.
That children, teenagers, and even adults have insecurities is nothing new. The Left needs to stop this badgering. They are the ones killing the kids. They aren’t protecting them from anything. They are the bullies.
Good post, thanks.
Spend enough time around twins, it's pretty easy to tell them apart.
And remember: You're unique, just like everyone else! 8~)
I hate the presupposition that there should ever be a gender identity curriculum.
There should be no such curriculum.
Exactly.
Exactly. I wish desantis had gone further and said “nope! It’s not going to be taught in schools at any age!”
Same here. Class of '81 out of a public HS. We didn't need 'curriculum' to figure out what was what. Going to movies on dates, off roading out to parties in the boonies... We had plenty of opportunities to figure things out. Like my "M" phase: Marcy, Monica, Melissa... But I digress...
If someone has to tell you or "educate" you on sexual preferences, what attracts you or doesn't -- guess what. Those aren't your preferences, they are the "educator's"... They are what they are grooming you for...
Well said.
