I think it was Neal Boortz who always insisted on calling them 'Government schools', not 'Public schools'.
Neal definitely did/does that. I listened to Boortz a lot way back before he was syndicated.
Way back in the day public schools were pretty good in my community. Solid emphasis on building useful knowledge and skills, an expectation of doing assigned work, getting exposure to civics and related studies to equip one to become a functioning citizen, healthy socialization activities, and learning to accept consequences for one’s actions — or lack thereof.
I believe that most students back then, even the marginal one’s, were much better educated and prepared to become responsible adults than today’s coddled and confused snowflakes are.
In many respects a high school grad in those days was better educated than college grads are today IMO.
Same here. Class of '81 out of a public HS. We didn't need 'curriculum' to figure out what was what. Going to movies on dates, off roading out to parties in the boonies... We had plenty of opportunities to figure things out. Like my "M" phase: Marcy, Monica, Melissa... But I digress...
If someone has to tell you or "educate" you on sexual preferences, what attracts you or doesn't -- guess what. Those aren't your preferences, they are the "educator's"... They are what they are grooming you for...
