A Black father will not face charges after he fired a shot at police officers that he mistook for intruders in his Florida home in February, a local prosecutor decided.
The Office of the State Attorney for the First Judicial Circuit of Florida announced last month that attempted murder charges brought against Corey Marioneaux Jr. had been dropped.
After conducting a full review of the incident, authorities determined that there was not enough evidence to prove that Marioneaux had known he was firing at law enforcement who arrived at his Pensacola, Florida home to serve a search warrant, according to State Attorney Ginger Bowden Madden.

None taken. First attempt turned out to be a Gannet paper, which does not allow Freerepublic to excerpt them.
“..No-knock warrants should be BANNED! Always!...”
Exactly. They’re not only dangerous for the homeowner and immediate family residing there, but also potentially for the LEOs as well. They’re entering premises unannounced. A frightened, unknowing homeowner thinking he’s being broken into to be robbed, etc. could open up on em with a whole lot more than just a little old .38 snubbie...think of a full magazine load of 300BLK etc.
IMHO, it’s just not a good situation for any and all involved no matter how one looks at it. There’s gotta be better, safer methods.
As stated above, it should be the rare exception, not the everyday norm.
He didn’t “mistake” them for intruders. They were intruders.
> I’m assuming they were wearing police uniforms. <
Interestingly enough, two of the mobsters who carried out the St. Valentines’s Day Massacre were wearing police uniforms.
If the cops really have to raid a house, give the folks inside some clue. The police should be required to have a marked car outside. Turn on the lights and siren just before hitting the door.
How hard can that be?
They knew who he was. They simply could have searched the home while the suspect was working[He worked at a Bank, later fired]. Dumb runs in government. The consequences of government action, ruins countless innocent lives.
Tell that to Tim Pool, as his youtube show gets swatted regularly by the goons of the democrat party, all because of imminent threat calls. This is what the “Active Shooter” language gets us.
Yeah, cause no home invader/carjacker has ever masqueraded as a cop. /s
Just because cops show their badge doesn't make it right for them to burst into a house unannounced. They should inform the homeowner of the warrant and even allow the homeowner to call the precinct to confirm such. IMO.
That’s all fine and dandy but why did they have a search warrant
in the first place and did they find anything? There is alot of loose ends to this story.
Our system is designed to let a guilty person go free to avoid conviction of an innocent citizen. It is also designed for law enforcement to announce their presence in a prominent way to ensure innocent citizens are not harmed when serving or acting upon any warrant.
These “no knock” warrants came to prominence during the late sixties due to drug busts going bad because the perpetrators were able to flush evidence before opening their door. This was the theme in all the cop shows in the late sixties and early seventies. The clamor to get drugs off the streets led to the political “War on Drugs” and the advent of no knock warrants.
Great for TV and movies, but horrible for citizens when aggressive LE attack the wrong address. No fan of no knock warrants.
WWG1WGA!
” a white Ford F-150 shooting at the man on Jan. 22 at Palafox and Garden streets.”
Really?
I disagree. His being black is important in that it demonstrates to ordinary folks that you have a right to defend home no matter who/what you are. Blue cities go to great lengths to deprive everyone of this right. It preferentially hurts blacks — which is also deliberate as these politicians are the same as those who gleefully enslaved blacks and oppress them on everything.
This black guy stood up for his family. And, note that his being the father of the house was also important and kinda rare.
> I DISAGREE! No Knock warrants should be used regularly on
> Public Servants, Judges, Cops and Lawyers on a weekly
> basis...
As much as I would like to see these miscreants punished severely for their malfeasance and violations of public trust, I don’t want to see us become like them.
That’s the whole point.
My son is an LEO, and he supports banning of no-knock warrants for the very reasons you enumerated.
As another poster said, the DA that requested it and the judge that signed off on it should be the FIRST ones to attempt a no-knock entry.
I remember the Atlanta Red Dog squad. They burst in and a little old lady sitting with her revolver shot back. They murdered her, frankly. At least two or three of them later went to prison for it..
“SWAT teams are primed for action.”
You’re right. I used to watch their show on TV. They NEVER knocked nicely, instead just busted in.
Not a lot of info in the article.
Cool. Sounds like they did the right thing!
Under normal circumstances I would agree with you, but this has been going on a long time now and the only way to ever win is to play by the Rules they set forth, and play for keeps using the Rules they established. When the Rules they established start hurting them, they will change.
