The ringleader of the establishment Republicans, Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), announced on Thursday a donation to Democrat ally Rep. Liz Cheney’s (R-WY) reelection campaign.
Cheney, who is no longer recognized as a Republican by the Wyoming GOP, has received a campaign contribution from the Senate GOP leader, McConnell told Axios. When asked if he will hold a fundraiser or other campaign event with Cheney, McConnell redirected the conversation back to his lane of Senate business.
McConnell and Cheney apparently believe the Wyoming member may lose her seat to Trump-endorsed Harriet Hageman, a strong threat to the establishment Republican order in Washington, DC. With Hageman catching momentum heading into the August 16 GOP primary, former President George Bush has also donated the legal maximum amount to Cheney. McConnell and Bush are joined in their support of Cheney by failed presidential candidate Mitt Romney (R-UT). In March, Romney delivered a speech at a closed fundraiser for the embattled Cheney.
The Wyoming race has become a proxy war between the establishment and conservative Republicans. Hageman has earned the support of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA). Party leaders typically rarely endorse against sitting members of Congress. But after Cheney deserted the Republican party by allying herself with Nancy Pelosi’s January 6 committee and reportedly “orchestrated unprecedented” Republican sabotage, McCarthy presumably believed Cheney must be ousted from her seat.

A promise to not vote for McConnell as leader is a requirement to receive my vote in this year’s senatorial election here in PA.
No offense, but that’s about as dumb a promise as any Senate candidate can make right now. That’s precisely what doomed the Alabama campaigns of Roy Moore in 2017 and Mo Brooks this year.
Openly refusing to support a sitting GOP Senate leader who isn’t facing any kind of a leadership challenge is ludicrous. If a GOP candidate for the U.S. Senate from Pennsylvania goes on to win in November, who is he supposed to vote for as Senate majority leader? And how is he going to accomplish a single thing for Pennsylvania in a legislative body if he has alienated the current leader and all the other U.S. Senators who support him?
This is the kind of amateurish approach to national politics that destroys the GOP.

Lots of FReepers love him. They totally buy into the ‘lesser of two evils” Uniparty triangulation scheme, which has incrementally pushed the country further and further to the left over the past 50 years.
But as long as the GOP gets their fair share of November victories every 2 years, they are happy to be blind to what’s going on over the long term.
The GOP is a worthless sack of garbage with the exception of a small handful of Congressmen. It needs to be burned to the ground and “built back better”.
We can start by lighting at least 47 of the 50 GOP Senators on fire.

I'm talking about political processes and the realities of operating in a legislative body. I'd love to have you (and other Freepers) answer the question I posed to you earlier: If a GOP candidate for the U.S. Senate announces that he won't support Mitch McConnell for the GOP leadership post in the Senate, then who is he supposed to vote for?
What I AM doing is pointing out that a legislator has to operate much differently than an executive leader like the president or a governor.
Some of the most principled legislators in Congress are also completely ineffective because they don't have any leverage to cut deals. I'll offer Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky as a perfect case in point.

And I haven't watched Sean Hannity or Mark Levin in years. Hannity's content is tailored to an audience with an IQ of 90, while Levin comes across as a genius because he caters to an audience with an average intelligence.

Dr. Oz is running for Senate. I will never vote for a Muslim. I will never vote for a carpet bagger from New Jersey. I will never vote for someone who has duel citizenship with Turkey. (He said he would renounce if became Senator - sorry too late.) I will never vote for someone who hires wetbacks. Dr. Oz is out, he doesn't even get the opportunity to answer the question about McConnell.
Kathy Barnette and Carla Sands both have ties to PDJT. We have seen how women work out particularly in the Senate. I can't name one example that was decent. (When it comes to men, I can only name one or two - so not a big difference.) I have yet to hear either address the question about voting for McConnell as leader. I am waiting to hear more.
George Bochetto and Sean Gale are both lawyers. I have never heard much about them or their stance on McConnell.
David McCormick is a hedge fund guy. So was Toomey. That didn't workout too well. He has money and runs pretty ads. No word on McConnell and I don't know much about the guy.
Jeff Bartos ran against baby killer, child rapist and torturer enabler Bob Casey previously and lost. He said in October 2017 he would not vote for McConnell, and still holds this position. That was long before this became a popular issue.
I will wait until more is known about the candidates to make my decision. Basically, they all start off with negatives, even Bartos since he lost against Casey. Casey should be completely beatable for anyone that has the testicular fortitude to fight against him. I am tired of voting for wimps.
Thanks for the recap on the Pennsylvania candidates! I hope someone good emerges from that field.
