The ringleader of the establishment Republicans, Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), announced on Thursday a donation to Democrat ally Rep. Liz Cheney’s (R-WY) reelection campaign.
Cheney, who is no longer recognized as a Republican by the Wyoming GOP, has received a campaign contribution from the Senate GOP leader, McConnell told Axios. When asked if he will hold a fundraiser or other campaign event with Cheney, McConnell redirected the conversation back to his lane of Senate business.
McConnell and Cheney apparently believe the Wyoming member may lose her seat to Trump-endorsed Harriet Hageman, a strong threat to the establishment Republican order in Washington, DC. With Hageman catching momentum heading into the August 16 GOP primary, former President George Bush has also donated the legal maximum amount to Cheney. McConnell and Bush are joined in their support of Cheney by failed presidential candidate Mitt Romney (R-UT). In March, Romney delivered a speech at a closed fundraiser for the embattled Cheney.
The Wyoming race has become a proxy war between the establishment and conservative Republicans. Hageman has earned the support of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA). Party leaders typically rarely endorse against sitting members of Congress. But after Cheney deserted the Republican party by allying herself with Nancy Pelosi’s January 6 committee and reportedly “orchestrated unprecedented” Republican sabotage, McCarthy presumably believed Cheney must be ousted from her seat.

Yes, it sounds like you'd be quite comfortable amidst the many great Mitches of the world.
I can't blame you one bit.
Those great folks in Wyoming threw Liz Cheney out of the state Republican Party and now Mitch McConnell spits in their face by supporting her.
I'm not in Wyoming but I'm donating to Harriet Hagman, her leading opponent. Liz Cheney needs to be thrown of office and Mitch McConnell as well.
No offense, but that's about as dumb a promise as any Senate candidate can make right now. That's precisely what doomed the Alabama campaigns of Roy Moore in 2017 and Mo Brooks this year.
Openly refusing to support a sitting GOP Senate leader who isn't facing any kind of a leadership challenge is ludicrous. If a GOP candidate for the U.S. Senate from Pennsylvania goes on to win in November, who is he supposed to vote for as Senate majority leader? And how is he going to accomplish a single thing for Pennsylvania in a legislative body if he has alienated the current leader and all the other U.S. Senators who support him?
This is the kind of amateurish approach to national politics that destroys the GOP.
OMG!!!!!Mitch is DIRTIER than I had even thought!!!!
I hope COVID finds a home with Mitch.
Don’t beat around the bush, if you want to say something be a man and just come out and say it.
As for Brooks, he's an out of touch establishment piece of schiff. He lost the moment he spoke at Trump's rally last year. He's out of touch with MAGA people. You don't get booed and a Trump rally and win.
GOPe bump for later....
The Turdle should just retire....and live his life with his millions.
If we can’t defeat Mitch in the Primary, he must be defeated in the vote for Leader.
lol
Wow, not cool.
Name names...........
“If we can’t defeat Mitch in the Primary, he must be defeated in the vote for Leader”
Mitch was just reelected in 2020. So the only chance is to defeat him as leader, which won’t likely happen because he’s been picking his own colleagues for years, and they won’t buck him.
No, but you do get to be a bumbling fool when you age and the
world passes you by.
Not trying to absolve the guy, because what he pulled in the
first term of Trump was inexcusable.
We will get nothing done if he remains there in Trump’s
second term. It may be our last chance ever to fix
things.
Look at what he pulled under Trump’s first term.
He and Paul Ryan sat on their hands.
Generally, I’d say you’re right on with your thoughts, but
we’ve got a nation to save.
If we can manage to build enough of a majority, boot him.
This is typical McConnel, spitting in the eye of Republicans, especially Wyoming Republicans. The man needs to be removed from leadership if Republicans take the Senate back, but too many Rhinos like McConnell still exist.
As with everything that you post, you don’t have a clue as to what you are talking about.

“Extinction is possible.”
gotta wonder why Mitch would smear his hands so badly like this
if he wanted to contribute to LizJerk, he could have had funds made available to her in a dozen other ways that would not have been public
