Who sends their elite formations into a feint, I wonder? Especially if that feint is so ill prepared the entire elite unit loses combat effectiveness and needs to be reconstituted? Who uses paratroopers to hold ground anyway, they’re notoriously bad at it.
Best of the best is obviously very relative. Proibably killed by bubushkas hurling jars of pickles.
So these people need our help why?
If the goal of the Kyiv operation was to keep Ukrainian forces tied up so the rest of the Russian forces could take Donbas, then…
WHY HAVEN’T RUSSIAN FORCES TAKEN DONBAS?
Now they’ve announced they want to take Donbas and are withdrawing from north Ukraine. Problem is, the Ukrainian foces from Kyiv can also then move to defend Donbas. In fact, Ukrainian forces have a shorter distance to travel.
So the best case interpretation of this situation is that the Russian operation was still a failure, since Donbas is holding despite the “diversion”.
The whole action doesn’t make sense to me. I’m seeing single tanks. I can’t imagine that you would send one tank into a neighborhood without any support. Plus the fact that they were sitting defenseless along the road waiting. The whole thing sounds like the Russians have a terrible army. The worse is when they aren’t effective their military leaders ie colonel generals will be closer to the front line and vulnersble
Exactly. Unless resupplied, they become a spent force after 3 days.
If any of the “news” coming out of Ukraine is to be believed, they must be total badasses. And we feared the USSR all those years!
(Note that I don’t believe ANY of it)
There was an interesting article the other day( might have been livestream) on the non-stop MI6 propoganda spewing from England. They publish 90% of these article, so enjoy the ride if you have bit hard because there is nothing subtle about the folks who brought you the comical Steele Dossier
If you deplete your forces, then you may be “forced” to use more unconventional warfare, i.e. things that leave behind mushroom clouds. I half wonder if mad Vlad is considering such a thing? It would not be out of the realm of possibility.
“What’s happening? When will this end? When will people stop dying?”
When Putin wills it, or when the Russian people get rid of Putin, whichever comes first.
Meanwhile 110,000 people died in the USA over the past 12 months from the poison drug couriers are bringing thru the Biden open border. This of course does not count the flat out murder by guns, knives, machetes and other methods by foreign gang members.
Lots of specific reports of Russians dying, but only general assertions about Ukranians dying. I wonder why.
I can see a realistic excuse for this. Their typical soldiers are using worn and used equipment. But this unit likely had the newest and best equipment the army could offer — and the most likely to have been “compromised”, both by the Ukrainians and foreign forces willing to share info with them.
In other words, what good are radios that the enemy can also listen to?
Kinda wondered if we’d start seeing more and more of these ‘metered’ losses in the airborne units, after hearing the ‘rumor’ of a loaded plane or two being shot down.
The thought at the time, if loaded a/c were lost, was that the Russians would dribble out the death announcements over time to mitigate the shock. Perhaps.
“Best of the best” when talking of Russians may not mean quite what it sounds like - seems like the concept is pretty relative.
” it has been reported.”
Didn’t get passed the first sentence.
Second hand information = heresay, rumors.
We are essentially in a media blackout. All we get is what is “approved” for us to see. That’s not news. That’s one sided crap.
“Well trained” in bad tactics is not really well trained.
Nuts. I guess Bastogne is the exception. God Bless our 101st.
