WASHINGTON (Reuters) -The U.S. Justice Department on Thursday sent a letter to states warning them against passing legislation that would discriminate against transgender youth, including measures that would ban them from seeking gender-affirming treatments.
The warning from the department's top civil rights lawyer comes at a time when Republican-controlled states around the country have been enacting a variety of bills aimed squarely at transgender youth.
"Intentionally erecting discriminatory barriers to prevent individuals from receiving gender-affirming care implicates a number of federal legal guarantees," wrote Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke, in a letter to state attorneys general.
"State laws and policies that prevent parents or guardians from following the advice of a healthcare professional regarding what may be medically necessary or otherwise appropriate care for transgender minors may infringe on rights protected by both the Equal Protection and the Due Process Clauses of the Fourteenth Amendment."
“Transgender individuals deserve to be able to live free from discrimination, harassment, violence, and threats of violence," Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement on Thursday.

That is not “US” warning anybody. That is Dementia Joe and his illegitimate bunch of criminals. They don’t represent the US. The states passing these liberating laws do.
If states can erect barriers to people receiving covid treatments they can regulate the mutilation of minors.
So now there is a constitutional right to opposite sex hormones and bodily surgeries on minors. This is “gender affirming” care, and per the liberals who are in charge of the executive branch right now, this is A CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT.
Who knew?
So we will see court cases on issues such as :
1. The recent Florida law on discussing homosexuality and other related laws. We apparently must require that there be discussion of homosexuality in school.
2. As noted, it offends the sensibilities of the liberals and activists to restrict these sex change treatments to consenting adults only. They must be available to minor children.
3. Lawsuits over a number of states which have passed laws requiring that school sports competitors must compete with people of the same biological sex.
Are there any other issues in this whole LGBT world which activists are bitching about, which could be subject of lawsuits?
