Germany willing to become guarantor state for Ukraine peace

Germany is willing to become a “guarantor state” for a potential peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia, a government spokesman said on Wednesday.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed the issue in their recent phone calls, government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit told a news conference in Berlin.

“Germany, like several other countries, is of course ready to act as a security guarantor for Ukraine,” he stressed, but added that the matter could be subject to further deliberations as many details were still not clear.

During peace negotiations in Istanbul on Tuesday, Ukrainian officials signaled readiness to negotiate a “neutral status,” but demanded security guarantees for their country.

Ukrainian negotiator David Arakhamia told reporters that they are seeking an international agreement, where countries including Turkiye, Germany, Canada, Italy, Poland and Israel serve as the guarantor states.

NorseViking They need to surrender and stop dying. -- so your solution to an invader is "you should surrender"

Is that what your grandfather should have done when the Nazis invaded the USSR?

Look at the interviews of the people at least in southeast. Most of them support the “invaders”.

NorseViking:

post 16: The Uke Nazis
post 79: They sold some delivery platforms to chicoms and iranians already. The ukes made ICBMs for North Korea.

So now you're tossing everything at the Ukrainians?

NorseViking, so you are saying that Ukrainians are Nazis led by a Jewish President and they are selling ICBMs to communists

Really? That's what you are going with?

The problem with that statement is that Zelensky doesn't lead them. The Azov brigades, for example, lie somewhere between criminal gangs and nationalist militias. Think Mexican drug cartels. Zelensky faces many such uncontrollable forces in Ukraine, who tell HIM what to do. He's a puppet - his power-base is NATO and the Western media. Besides, he's Jewish like Bill Maher or Woody Allen are Jewish

Between 1933 and 1939 they did a pretty good job.

I lived in Germany for a year. Just about all the stereotypes are true, if not exactly in the way they are usually meant. Assuming the Germans have collectively decided to do something, they'll do it, and what is publicly expressed as representing "good order" will be internalized in almost all Germans. It's really rather amazing to see how it works up close.

Zelenskyy won the 2019 election free and fair - there were international observers. And you still think he’s a NATO powerbase???

Only Germany is dependent now

Germany's economy is nearly 1/3 of all of NATO's. Pretty damned significant, I'd say. And it was the Germans who laughed at Trump when he warned about their addiction to Russian fuel.

montag813 Germany's economy is nearly 1/3 of all of NATO's.

Germany's GDP = $4.2 trillion

List of NATO countries with their GDP

USA = 23t + UK 3 t + france 3 t + Italy 2 t + canada 2t + spain 1.4 t + Netherlands 1 t + Poland 0.6 t and I'm going to ignore the rest

Total NATO GDP = 41 trillion (approx)

Germany's GDP = $4.2 trillion

So Germany's economy is nearly 1/10th of all of NATO's

Where did you learn math?

From your link...President Viktor Yushchenko confirmed Thursday that nuclear-capable cruise missiles were illegally sold to Iran and China under Ukraine’s previous government. In an interview with NBC News, Yushchenko offered the highest-level acknowledgement that the sales, which have alarmed the U.S. intelligence community, indeed took place.

Actually, even if you ignore the USA and Canada, then the total NATO GDP is 19.5 trillion USD.

And Germany's GDP is $4.2 trillion.

that's approximately 1/5th, not 1/3rd the total

what's with your math?

The report is far from complete. It was later found that Yuschenko himself signed the transaction.

The Germans are now spending E100 billion in the next year or so on defense. That gives them the largest defense budget in Europe. They're talking to the Israelis about buying Iron Dome and talking about additional missile defense. Seems to be a real sea change.

Israel has bought 6-12 smaller diesel submarines from Germany through the years. Some, perhaps half, have nuclear tipped cruise missiles. These subs can hold three such nuke missiles/ Some lurk in the seas near Iran with targeting for Tehran, the Shiite allegedly "holy" city of Qom and more. This is why the fat, bloated Mullahs never take on Israel directly. Only through their dumbass proxies such as Hamas, Hezbollah and Syria.

"Israel inks multi-billion dollar submarine deal with Germany https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/israel-inks-multi-billion-dollar... Jan 20, 2022 · JERUSALEM -- Israel signed a three billion euro ($3.4 billion) deal on Thursday to buy three cutting edge submarines from Germany, the defense ministry announced. The Dakar-class diesel-electric ..."

I may post everday and I may not. I wasn’t planning on posting today but I noticed above a reply to me.

Not knowing who it was I see it was you going at it here. Give it a rest, take a break, and please, stop with the Russia! Russia! Russia! (i.e. “St. Petersburg”) as it is in line with the nonsense Rachel Maddow of MSNBC has used against Trump and bolsters the type of attacks Rachel Maddow and her libtard allies use and not appropriate for FR or for someone claiming to be a conservative.

No mention of ALCMs until now. This appears to be one of your tactics, pushing from silence and then claiming afterwards that the silence meant sumthin sumthin, like what humpty dumpty would do.

You're right.
The U.S. has supposedly stopped buying Russian oil.
The E.U. still is still supposed to be buying from Russia.
I haven't been paying real close attention to this whole mess in large part due to the slanted reporting that is being shoved at the world.
