Shouldn't there be a state wide referendum on this reckless use of taxpayer funds? How than this even begin to be legal.
And why is the government owning football stadiums, what next, all economic activity -SOCIALISM.
Enjoy the suck New Yuck.
They say that like it's a good thing.................
“And why is the government owning football stadiums”
Gotta have a place to house conservatives, Christians, nonvaxxed gun owning white people don’t they?
$1.4 Billion for the sleepy town of Buffalo and the woke NFL is losing fans all the time. This is corporatism and just another reason I don't want anything with the sport I formally enjoyed. I hope the Bills, the NFL, Buffalo, and New York State all go belly up in their adventures into socialism.
Can you belive this taxpayer rip-off!!!!!!! When was the last time the sheeple were forced to pay for some jackass billionaire’s football or baseball stadium? Quite a while I think
In recent years the billionaire team owners have built stadiums with their own money and loaned money. Such as the new SoFi 5 billion dollar stadium that two football teams use. This was 100% owner financed by the Ram’s owner, with some public monies being used to build new roads and highway access. Perhaps 100 million or so? This is reasonable to me and *not* a taxpayer ripoff.
We used to live in eastern Erie County approximately 12 miles from the current stadium in Orchard Park and were season ticket holders there. The taxpayers of Erie County will get royally screwed as they are also NYS taxpayers. This “public-private partnership” crap is just wrong. The ONLY people who should pay for this new stadium are the Bills and the NFL. They can recoup their “investment” by ticket sales. There should be NO public funding.
More ‘bread and circuses’
let them eat...stadium?
Why is tax money used for these stadiums? The working saps that are paying the taxes will never see the inside of them. Can’t afford to.
I’m completely against tax money being spent on a wealthy playground.
Joe Robie Stadium in Miami was built with private money. All of them should be.
More gummit boondoggle spending.
The Cabal in Albany (and Gnu Yak Sitty) do not care a rats posterior about the “people” of NYS. We are but an ATM for their idiotic spending and social engineering, and with Dominion in every county but Albany, Erie and NYC, our “votes” mean merd.
Major League Losers: The Real Cost Of Sports And Who's Paying For It
"A welfare system exists in this country that transfers hundreds of millions of dollars from taxpayers to individuals who hardly require government assistance. State and local officials, mesmerized by vague promises and starry-eyed visions of the future, cave in to ever escalating demands from the system's beneficiaries, without ever finding out whether the public is served by such policies. It's a scandal, really, and reform is long overdue if we are to rein in the abuses perpetrated by ...America's professional sports franchises.Major League Losers is a clarion call that exposes the system by which American cities and states shell out scarce tax dollars to subsidize the expenses of wealthy team owners and their extraordinarily well-paid employees. New stadiums and arenas are built at public expense, but municipalities are regularly shut out from sharing in the profits they generate. Sweetheart deals, negotiated under the threat of a team leaving town, result in many owners receiving land, investment opportunities, luxury suites, prime office space, and practice facilities—all financed by the taxpayers.
Mark S. Rosentraub, a leading analyst of the economic impacts of sports on urban areas, has studied the truth behind the claims routinely made by mayors, team owners, and the media, and he has discovered that major league sports have no more than a minuscule impact on the economy of a city or region. They produce few jobs, little tax revenue, and a negligible positive impact even on their own immediate neighborhood. In these times of tight budgets, Rosentraub shows that the current system wastes a colossal amount of public money that Americans cannot afford, and his pointed critique provides government officials and taxpayers with a clearer understanding of how cities can, and should, negotiate with sports franchises to protect the true public good."
"Both Rosentraub and Danielson largely place the blame for taxpayer subsidies on such misnomers as sports “cartels” or “monopolies,” when in fact they are another outgrowth of our massive welfare state. Big government is alive and well in the wide world of sports."
Another OBodyMortgagers Scam.
The money spent on players multi-million dollar salaries could pay for this out the teams and leagues funds. No private citizen should have to pay for entertainment.
gov. Hoochie... and randy andy will be back to haunt her in the primaries
Bribe or coercion?
And if those funds were already budgeted for something else, taxpayers are still screwed.
