Washington state will ban most non-electric vehicles by 2030

Washington state plans to ban most non-electric vehicles by 2030, according to a newly signed bill by Gov. Jay Inslee. The bill says that all vehicles of the model year 2030 or later that are sold, purchased, or registered in the state must be electric. “On or before December 31, 2023, the interagency electric vehicle coordinating council … shall complete a scoping plan for achieving the 2030 target,” it reads.

The bill covers a lot of transportation issues in the state and is a part of a larger $16.9 billion transportation package called “Move Ahead Washington,” which Inslee described as a way to create more efficient transportation options.

“Transportation is our state’s largest source of greenhouse gas emissions. There is no way to talk about climate change without talking about transportation,” Inslee said. “This package will move us away from the transportation system our grandparents imagined and towards the transportation system our grandchildren dream of.”

Also included in the transportation package is funding for four new hybrid-electric ferries, thousands of electric vehicle charging stations, 25 transit electrification projects across the state, as well as free fares for riders 18 and younger on public transportation systems, according to a Medium post the governor wrote on Friday.

Hard time paying for exorbitant gas prices but Inslee wants us to buy $40-60K electric cars that cost more to charge than gas.

It's true that you can't afford the car. But your electricity is about 10 cents a kWh and that will get you up to 4 miles. So 40 miles for a buck. Even at half that range, can you go 20 miles on a buck's worth of gas?

But like I said you can't afford the car (never mind the SUV or truck you really need).

All of our vehicles are over ten years old.

I can't imagine wanting to drive dinosaurs like that. Our oldest vehicle is just under four years old. I just sold my 2016 Silverado for $3822 less than I paid for it new almost six years ago. It didn't even have basic safety technology like blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert. It needed a fob to unlock the doors and a key to start the ignition. The parking brake was the old-fashioned kind you had to step on to engage and to release. The tailgate had to be opened and closed manually. My newer Silverado has push button start, electronically activated parking brake and a motorized tailgate that opens and closes at the touch of a button. And the advanced trailering system makes hooking up and towing a trailer a breeze. I don't ever want to go back to the vehicles of yesteryear.

Can you just imagine the stimulus package that offers a free
car to Democrat voters.

Ask any shitlib and they’ll tell you with curled lip condescension that electricity just magically squirts out of electrical sockets.

I live in New York State, and it, along with the Democrats who continually control the New York City Council, and the State Democrats who consistently control the State Legislature should all be blown to hell, because voter fraud is the law of the land now.

For the time being, I live in WA. Believe it, they will ban the sales of fuel powered vehicles for personal use. They will likely breach hydroelectric dams on the Snake river and the Columbia also.

The motto is “you will own nothing and be happy”. They mean that too.

The thing is THEY will own things, including diesel powered jets, and gasoline powered limos. They will also owned the homes we will rent from them.

The key is to stop registering the vehicle, and go to an ID card and no license. They cannot control what they do not own. All they can do is write tickets.

Easy. Stop selling all cars in Washington State and stop all diesel powered truck, train and boat deliveries. Battery powered only. Starting tomorrow. Good luck dumbasses!!

You are paying attention, and must be from the separate country of Washington too?

They had a story in the Sheattle Times that restaurant owners want dams breached so they can have better quality salmon.

Nope. People will simply be downloading manuals on how to repair their pickups with out of state parts.

Remember Cash for Clunkers? It instantly took millions of useful working cars off the roads, gave subsidies to those who could purchase new cars, and got GM and others out of a hole. Creative economy by the Obamanation.

Marty McFly:
So does it run on regular unleaded gasoline?

Dr. Emmett Brown:
Unfortunately no, it needs something with a little more kick - plutonium.

Marty McFly:
Plutonium... wait, are you telling me that this sucker is nuclear?

Dr. Emmett Brown:
No no no, this sucker’s electrical, but it requires a nuclear reaction to generate the 1.21 gigawatts of electricity I need.

Marty McFly:
Doc, you don’t just walk into a store and buy plutonium... did you rip that off?
