Ted Cruz mocked for saying nuclear war is more likely because of Biden’s ‘presidential weakness’

Ted Cruz is once again wading into the political arena to assert his viewpoint that President Joe Biden, not Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, is largely to blame for the war in Ukraine.

In a recent Fox News interview, the Texas senator discussed how the world has fortunately not seen a nuclear weapon detonated against an enemy power since the Second World War.

“We’ve managed to hold off anyone using a nuclear weapon. I pray to God that doesn’t happen,” Mr Cruz said.

But Mr Cruz continued that he believes that under Mr Biden’s administration, the chances of that fact remaining true are unlikely to hold.

“I will say I think the odds of it happening are increasing because I think presidential weakness from the White House invites this,” he adds.

Your post is the best post I have ever read on Freerepublic.

"Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and the success of liberty."

Love him or hate him, John Kennedy was born for such a time as the Cuban Missile Crisis. I can feel the anguish of those who are patriotic Americans. We have been saddled with the shame and sorrow of a "weak tyrant."

I turned 12 on October 26,1962. This country had one voice, one belief in Judeo Christian ideals and we could trust in a president who worked to fulfill the mandate to defend and preserve this land. I'm so glad I was blessed to have known such a time.

I remember a nuclear ‘near miss’ in 1962, and I believe a war is more likely now in part because people no longer believe it’s possible. We dwell in a total fantasy world where there’s always food, water, entertainment and security. People are incapable of understanding a true peril and are inviting catastrophe. And maybe we have earned it.

In 1962, every living American had either been to war, and likely saw combat, or had a close family member who did.

It's not like this today. War, for most living Americans, is something they've never had to experience. A miniscule percentage of the population, mostly volunteers for the past 50 years, has gone off to some faraway country to do the fighting while the rest of America stayed comfortable at home, fat and happy.

This one might be different. There's a very real potential that Americans might not escape unscathed. There's a very real potential that we could see U.S. cities obliterated.

I don't think a lot of people are really thinking about this.

I am. That's why I kinda get pissed when some Twitter bluecheck starts harping about "Why can't we enforce no-fly zones?" We're used to treating our enemies as someone who couldn't possibly touch us. We're treating Putin on the same level as Saddam, Gaddafi or Bashar al-Assad, some 3rd rate ruler with a 3rd rate military who we can wage war against while the rest of the country watches football and goes shopping with not a worry in the world that violence will reach our shores.

A good quote I found on Twitter that really hit home with me:

I and many more will not vote for ineligible candidates.

Most particularly where, as in this case, it is a lawyer that insults us by pretending he is eligible. IMO, such an attempt even disqualifies Crus from serving on the USSC.

Agree, it’s stunning how many people here don’t care about upholding the Constitution.

This is where Trump's experience in dealing with certain family types in the construction world would have been most valuable, compared to Biden's juvenile stories about CornPop.

Bingo!

Perhaps what is just as bad as Biden's juvenile stories is that the Team he inherited from Obama is clearly limited to an on-going anti-America First agenda.

When Biden leaves, much of his WH Team with its crew of key federal employees remains in play and should be Target 1 for the next R president.

The taxpayers could save a lot of money during the four years simply by putting them in a room with no cell phones or internet.

Trump has learned that the hard way.

Of course Putin is to blame for the invasion of the Ukraine, just as a bank robber is to blame for robbing a bank — but the cop who’s napping in his car in front of the bank isn’t doing anything to help prevent it.

OK! Well you got Joe Biden. He’s eligible, unlike, say, John McCain.

Biden and obama are doing their best to have Iran get nuclear weapons. The Israeli’s will attack to protect themselves and they will have the help of the Saudi’s and other mideast countries.

There’s nothing wrong with loving Ted Cruz, but I must agree that he couldn’t have beaten Herself in 2016. “But they said the same thing about Reagan!” Sorry, but 2016 America wasn’t even the same country as its 1980 namesake. Imagine *any* Republican carrying California in the mid 2010s(!). I also don’t see how Cruz could have won in MI, PA, or WI, or picked up any states Trump didn’t.
