On March 11, 2022, the Georgia House passed the Constitutional Carry bill, HB 1358, 94 to 57, with 5 Representatives not voting, and 24 excused. HB 1358 defines a “lawful weapons carrier” as a person who is eligible for a license to carry, any non-resident who would otherwise be eligible for a license to carry, and any person from another state who has a license to carry a weapon in another state. The bill then removes restrictions from carry in many areas which were previously restricted. Here is an example, showing part of the proposed law:
(f) Notwithstanding 16-12-127, any lawful weapons carrier may carry a weapon in all parks, historic sites, or recreational areas, as such term is defined in Code Section 12-3-10, including all publicly owned buildings located in such parks, historic sites, and recreational areas, in wildlife management areas, and on public transportation; provided, however, that a person shall not carry a handgun into a place where it is prohibited by federal law.
A separate Senate measure, SB 319, passed on February 28th, 34 to 22. The two bills now need to be rectified between the two chambers.
One chamber may accept the other’s bill, which would then be sent to Governor Kemp, who is openly championing Constitutional Carry, as a way of bolstering his conservative credentials.
Kemp lost significant credibility during the botched and much-disputed election of 2020. Significant evidence has surfaced showing illegal ballot harvesting may have swung the election.
Governor Kemp, on Twitter, tweeted that he is working hard to “get Constitutional Carry across the finish line!” From twitter.com:
I am committed to working with both the Georgia House and Senate to get Constitutional Carry across the finish line!

Whoot!
Kemp needs the boot either way
That is the same kind of heat that Gov. Abbott faced in 2021 when Texas passed the gun legislation.
The political worms only move when pressure is applied, IMHO.
Yes. It is the same thing which happened with Governor DeWine in Ohio, just a couple of days ago.

They just want to keep their ill-gotten power.
Take that Stacy Abrams!
You fat POS.
I think he may be re-elected. He’s way ahead in the primary.
Alabama just passed Constitutional Carry which goes into effect January 1, 2023. One of the big (if not sole) reasons people in AL wanted a CCW was reciprocity with GA. If this passes that reason goes away (although AL still CCW enjoys reciprocity with 30+ other states).
Hopefully, with Democrat Jon Bel Edwards (governor of Louisiana) term-limited out, Louisiana will elect a governor who will sign off on passage. Both houses of the LA legislature passed CC, but they couldn’t manage a veto over-ride.
I’m in GA, and it’s nice that all the Southern states we regularly travel to have reciprocity with a GA Weapons License. It used to be that SC did not give GA reciprocity, and you couldn’t get a SC license without being a resident. Which was a pain, as we have friends in Beaufort we go see fairly often. Fortunately SC changed a few years ago, finally, and gives GA reciprocity.
I understand that Attorney General Jeff Landry and Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser, both Republicans, are considering a run for governor.
Jeff Landry has outstanding credentials as a conservative and I think Billy would sign off on Constitutional Carry also.
I don’t know who the democraps (Read: Communists) would run against them, so it will be interesting.
The main concern, in my humble opinion, is how much the corrupt New Orleans and Baton Rouge communists can sway the election with their cheating...
So there is hope.
It will be interesting, to say the least. I now live in San Antonio, but try to keep up with what goes on in my natal state....
He can sign a bill as would be his obligation, IMO, but I’m STILL not gonna vote for him in his primary very soon.
See my tag line. Been having that question for years.
